It's built in spyware for the government and the software companies. They try to spindoctor it into something good for us. But it's microsoft and the US government...come on. So here's what they did; Combine beneficial features with espianage. Most sheep are too damn stupid to conceive how something this sinister is possible. THIS IS A BIG DEAL. Know the first thing they put it in? THE XBOX. It's how they know if you're playing burned games over xbox live. It was made to collect info to go after hackers and get this-THEY CAN REMOTELY DELETE PIRATED SOFTWARE OFF YOUR PC AND REPORT YOU. How bout them apples? Of course, they say they won't do that, but we all know how it works. So read up and be aware. BTW, it doesn't work on LINUX. Hahahaha.

1. Long live Linux

I tried it a few times...still not polished enough for me, because I like gaming...and I had trouble.

10. I'm Using Redhat

It works good for me. It does what I need it to do with documents using Open Office. I had some problems getting on the Internet because of some nic card problems and it was kind of hard to figure out what driver to get in order to fix it. It was a nic card built into the motherboard.

It's never really going to get there as far as being as easy as Windows. You have to actually get a book and learn how to use all of the console commands like back in the DOS days if you want to do anything with it.

It's badass. It loads pages faster than IE. It doesn't use Active X so half the viruses on the net won't affect you. And you can load some truly sick extentions to add functions.

There was an uproar when it was announced. One of the many things it will do is prevent "unauthorized" software from running. That can include Linux. Nice huh? I would never buy a PC with a "security" chip or that bullshit. Not if I didn't have control of it.

Palladium will not fly for one big reason. Corporate/business customers will not support it. I have been in focus groups where it comes up. People are against it. I also work in a large multi-national. We will not purchase PC's that include it.

If there's at least the impression there's more good than bad, they will. But it's a moot point.

that is a problem, put a mod chip in, and try XBOX live, and microsoft bans you from the network, they know, even though some of these mod chips have on/off switches on them. Though I will say that you could still get online, just not on microcrap's network. Linux can run on the PC-in-a-Box anyways, so there are ways around that crap. Hackers of the world unite for this shit after all.

has specific terms of usage, one of which is that you use an unaltered X-Box to use the network. It's a completely different issue.

15. Palladium is old news an a FALSE ALARM.

Microsoft wants to do wonderful things with new advances in technology (like, say, virtually "own" their users' machines and everything on them), but this will not be happening.
There will be a huge backlash in the IT field and among computer users if Microsoft actually try to implement any of their draconian proposals. Microsoft is a business, and it would be PR and commercial suicide if they go against everyone's wishes. This isn't politics, they can't pull Rovian tactics and get away with it like Bush can.
Aside from that, Palladium will be cracked in 2 days. DVD encoding cracked, all forms of software and music copy protection were cracked, hardware copy protection on game consoles was cracked, and if Palladium isn't cracked, it's going to be a first. Microsoft isn't exactly the most inventive company out there and their code isn't exactly the cleanest.
There's nothing to worry about.

Any unapproved (read incompatible with this sort of crap) software or hardware can been deemed a tool of terrorists and owning them - after a grace period to turn them in for a discount on approved software and hardware - could be deemed-- well, I'm sure you can guess. That same push is already being made against encryption.
