Power to the People (Again)

I reading many posts it should be obvious that what we need as Democrats is a true revival of the progressive spirit. The New Deal is being undone before our eyes and the New New Deal is perpetual War and rich getting richer and eating the poor. Howard Dean did a good job of letting us know what a good old fashioned progressive looks like.

I believe that we must stop, once and for all, taking our leaders from the upper class. FDR was an upper class gem but gems are rare. What it is going to take for us to overcome the ignorance and fear that is the present Republican stranglehold is a leader from the true grass roots. How many poor and disadvantaged people just don't vote? Millions and millions. Why? It can be argued that they just don't care any more. They see leaders of both parties as basically the same. I think there is some truth to that although a Democratic President does so much less harm, in general, than a modern day Republican.

A leader must arise that can once again give hope to the underclass. He or she will be an instant target of all sorts of massive mischief so they must be scrupulously honest and dedicated. It will get nasty. The only way to overcome the massive "capital" of the overlords is with massive numbers of very upset underlings. Can this occur? I am afraid it is our only hope. Thomas Jefferson reasoned for periodic revolution. Is it time for electoral revolt?
