Al Franken on Class Warfare

I find pubbies whining about "class warfare" particularly annoying so when I read this in Al Franken's new book, I cracked up and just had to share it:

Any time that a liberal points out that the wealthy are disproportionately benefiting from Bush's tax policies, Republicans shout, "class warfare!"

In her book A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous Fourteenth Century, Barbara Tuchman writes about a peasant revolt in 1358 that began in the village of St. Leu and spread throughout the Oise Valley. At one estate, the serfs sacked the manor house, killed the knight, and roasted him on a spit in front of his wife and kids. Then, after ten or twelve peasants violated the lady, with the children still watching, they forced her to eat the roasted flesh of her dead husband and then killed her.

That is class warfare.

Arguing over the optimum marginal tax rate for the top one percent is not.

He points out that Falwell had said that the anti-Christ was alive and in the form of a male Jew. So, on Geraldo Franken asked him about that, and Falwell explained that since the anti-Christ was a couterfeit Christ, he'd most likely be a male Jew, as Christ had been.

Then, Franken asked him if the anti-Christ was Marvin Hamlisch.

After at least fifteen minutes of biblical study, I am sure that the antichrist is either George W Bush* or actor David Paymer. At the moment I'm leaning towards Bush. He acts self righteous and does evil shit. Paymer just acts.

I know David Paymer and if he is the antichrist he's doing an incredibly good job of hiding it. He's actually a really nice, unassuming guy with a wife, a kid and a dog. How much more innocuous can you get?

5. That's an excellent book

Franken does a good job putting the screws to a lot of people. I'd recommend it to anybody especially right wingers who don't understand how the guys on their side lie to them.
