Christians should take responsibility for their own religion

Instead of expecting the government to promote it for them!

It just occurred to me today that they are the biggest hypocrites; They always talk about how the government shouldn't be expected to do everything for people and yet they more or less expect the government to promote their religion for them!

For the record, I am a Christian, but NOT that kind. If there were never another nativity scene in a courthouse yard, if there were never any prayers at my children's schools, if my daughter never said "under God" during the pledge, I would still teach her about Jesus. (What he *really* taught.)

I don't need the government doing it for me and neither do they. It's their responsibility to carry on their own religion. Our government should play no part in it whatsoever.

Proseletyzing is embedded in the faith. The sweet missionaries who come to my door have only slight restraint from trying to talk with my children, and they often do; should I do it to theirs, I'd be vilified no end, if not outright attacked.

They're political organizations that leech off us all; paying fairly severe local property taxes as I do, I subsidize them. This is not enough; to not give them preferential sway is some kind of persecution. Far too many demand sanctification by the government, as well as monies from the public purse.

You are obviously a decent sort, and for this I thank you; please whup on your co-believers.

This is all anti-democratic: it's privilege, pure and simple.

Sadly, the path to understanding is travelled by vastly different people: some seek and hold themselves in awe and service to the world, and some have figured everything out and demand obedience and agreement.

The more virulent of your fellow believers would take much more issue with you than with me: you could cause dissent from within the group, and remind them of the embarrassing nurturing aspects of their faith; I'm just an outside heathen.

I think you know who your truer friends are.
