Christianity allows for forgiveness. Catholicism teaches that you can be forgiven any sin provided you truly repent in your heart.
For some Protestants, like Calvinists, your fate is pre-ordained. Nothing you can do can change that. Based on that, I prefer Catholicism (minus the pedophiles and intolerant Bishop from Denver).
