Baghdad blog: Iraq firm bid $300k to rebuild bridge;US firm bid $50m & won

Interesting post on a blog out of Baghdad: A local company bid $300,000 to rebuild a bridge in Iraq, and then an American company is awarded a $50 MILLION dollar contract to rebuild the same bridge!

1. same thing happened in Afghanistan
a major road project, similar numbers to the ones in your story. Karzai was pissed about it.

but not surprising if true. How reliable are the bloggers?

Isn't this about 50 million times worse than the $400 hammers?

This has to be checked out?

Are bids extended within Iraq?

Are bids only extended to U.S. firms.
