about my DemocraticUnderground bumper sticker. It was a Comcast cable guy, but he wasn't trying to sell me cable. We got into a long discussion about Bush and the election. He said he was always a radical left-winger. Well, I guess there will be a new member here soon. It was so refreshing to talk to someone of like mind in this totally Republican area where I live in North Georgia.

2. This is excellent! Bumper stickers really can start conversations...

A guy on a bike road up to my car last Fall to ask me about my Kucinich for President sticker. We wound up talking for just a few minutes but I told him about our local Democracy for America group and he road off repeating the URL for the local group under his breath. Wow!

7. PBS Bumper sticker

If we could only direct people to "our airwaves" and T.V. too....I heard KC from KC and The Sunshine Boys Band (WHO LOOKS GOOOOOD, BY THE WAY) say during the PBS "money drive"..."If we loose PBS we loose one of our Freedoms!"...It did make me pause and think that we do have "airwaves" and television and they are very good. Nightline is on my "must see" list. We should support them with our dollars because you know who wants to cut them way back.Bill Gates gives them lots of money.I'll advertise for them with my bumper sticker and support them any day....I just listened as the California Democratic majority whip, Richard Alarcon spoke of the FBI's raiding of the son of the President Pro Tem, Don Perata, of the State of California!.(very powerful)...and the fact that the "press" had papers and wrote about it."Grand Jury Leaks"....it worked so well for Starr... ...The Republicans what to "redistrict" California .Democrats hold 25 of the 40 seats...I still find it hard to believe that our "elected" Governor Arnold has not mentioned the Billions of dollar that we now know were bilked from every person that pays an energy bill in the state of California by the likes of Enron etc.( I cannot believe how high mine has gone up since Bush became President.....I figure about $1,200.00 more a year)Yet he gets Kudos for raising a 15 billion dollar (loan) bond??...The MSM has already started in on the "Hollywood Types"....fear of being "Dixie Chicked".....They say:"So goes California so goes the Nation"...Is this a rant?...I'm not so sure I'm following protocol here.

That loose-lose thing always bugs me, too. How did it become so common?

Perhaps the poster does mean "loose" PBS as in "free from imprisonment?"

I always think of "loose the dogs of war" or Melville's loose fish versus fast fish rant from Moby Dick when I see this mistake....every day....once an hour.... when I see this mistake.

Ah, well, English is a dynamic, volatile, living language. I'd hate to lose "lose," though. Maybe each "o" in the word "lose" represents a stolen US election? If so, we should be spelling it "looose" now.

Total Information Awareness? Wasn't there some program where cable guys and meter readers and such were supposed to keep an eye out when they were in customer homes and watch for signs of independent thought.

Maybe this was proposed, or is it actually part of the USA PATRIOT act?

8. No, not this cable guy. He wasn't even in my house.

We spoke outside my door and he expressed the same talking points and views as all of us here at DU. So even if he was a Patriot Act spy and he informed on me, the evil Bush cartel already knows about us, anyway. I mean, what can you do to someone over a bumper sticker?

Why the cynicism?? A lot of people agree with us, you know!! A couple days after the election, my husband and I were on DU and grumbling about the election and the possibility of fraud, and the guy who was installing our woodstove said, "Um, hate to eavesdrop, but were you talking about election fraud? Because you know those Bushes would stop at nothing to win!"

I've had a lot of similar interactions with the at least 50% of other Americans who feel exactly as we do, but who think they're all alone.

I think the cable guy was on the up and up.
