We are not at WAR..when was the last time it was declared?

I mean the last time war was ever actually declared?


I hate this 'We are at war' crap.

I do not want to take away from people dying in Iraq and else where but still we are not at war.

But there's a reason why war is never declared: because then, the war would have an end, at which time all those extraordinary powers claimed by the government would come to an end.

Now all we need are enemies, and Bush is our emperor.

5. And where's the Congress in all this?

Supposedly only Congress can declare war. During the entire Vietnam War, congress never declared war; it was a "police action." But if Congress asserted itself, I guess all those "special" presidential powers would have to go.

Congress has the power to declare war. Yet it allows presidents to wage what looks like war, and gives him the power, and money, to do it.

Congress passes the patriot acts, creates the security apparatus, and funds the entire thing.

The reason why there was a police action in Vietnam was because Congress appropriated the money. The reason why there was an invasion of Iraq is becaue Bush got Congressional approval.

Which by definition probably won't ever end. Terror is a psychological state that can't really be eradicated until they start the government sanctioned drugging.

when the Russians declared war on the Japanese and I believe that was on August 2, 1945.
