5. Yes rejecting religious and moral "authority" is a good thing.

Skepticism and relativism lead to unbiased and well debated policy decisions. Nihilism would not mean mean the end of democracy since government would still be run on truths derived at an individual level. So how would things like economic populism be impeded by nihilism? Many areas could still be voted and acted upon progressively.

Compassion, empathy and communal concern seem to have developed during human evolution. How would adopting tenets of nihilism destroy the powerful positive human tendencies that have and continue to shape public policy?

2. believe that all values are baseless and that nothing can be known or communicated?

3. reject all distinctions in moral or religious value, and repudiate all previous theories of morality or religious belief?
