Right-wing Weekly Standard singles out my town for attack
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=2280&ncid=742&e=4&u=/weeklystandard/20041220/cm_weeklystandard/merrychristmas

THE MAYOR OF SOMERVILLE, Massachusetts, is sorry. Really sorry. He recently called the city's annual December celebration a "Christmas party." And we can't be having that. What he meant to say, he explained, is "holiday party," because the word "Christmas" contains . . . um, a word they don't use in Somerville, Massachusetts.

So effing lame. What they fail to point out is that the Mayor is a very religious Catholic who was just trying to include people of all faiths and beliefs, wtf is wrong with that??? I'm a Christian who celebrates Christmas and doesn't believe that my religion should be forced down everyone elses throats. This "campaign" by the right over Christmas is getting ridiculous!!!

1. God Bless the Mayor
and fuck the dumbasses at Weekly Standard who have forgotten that the law of the land is the Constitution not the bible. Yo, constitution hating conservative christians, nowhere is it written that you have the inalienable right to religious music and signs while you indulge in your annual retail debauchery. If you want to do away with the Constitution and install the Bible as the law of this land, then declare war on the USA. I'd be more than happy to come out of retirement and kick your fascist asses back to the stoneage where you would be quite comfortable.

4. here's how it all started:
http://www2.townonline.com/somerville/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=137296

Basically, the mayor of Somerville Joe Curtatone issued a statement in which he apologized for referring to the city holiday party as a "Christmas party". He just didn't want to offend anyone and now a bunch of wing-nuts are freaking out over his statement.

BTW, welcome to DU! :hi:

10. Sorry but why are you trolling here?
No one thinks it was Christains who got Bush elected. Just a satanic cult that has spun off from Christianity that has little in common with Jesus and his teachings.

Welcome to DU. I have to say that because I have a feeling you won't be staying very long.

I especially like the idea of banning Christians from voting. In fact, what we need to do is to send all the christians back to Europe.

can't wait for wit and substance of wendy.jones_2

btw, bushit never has been elected.
