The End of United States
Am I the only one who truly believes that we have long ago passed the point of no return?
Many profess their love of freedom and justice while supporting the death machine residing at the pentagon and the hell holes called prisons.
Many years ago while a student in a freshman poly-sci class at Marshall University I read a thesis titled the "The Cybernetic State"tho I cannot recall the author. The grist of this argument was that The cold war had wound the US and USSR into a kind of mirror image of each other. The author predicted that as information became widely dispersed that the USSR would fail at information control and thereby bring about it's own end. It also predicted that the US would be more astute in the control of information but would ultimately fail because of the impossibility of controlling dispersion of info in the digital age . The end of the noble experiment would come from the elites ever more encroaching attempts to stifle free exchange of ideas. This my friends has come to pass.
The BFEE is the instrument of our destruction as a nation. I for one have no doubt that these monsters would gladly destroy the federal government ,split the money to maintain military/prison complex , and divvy up the country into various feudal/corporate states. In fact this has been done already to a large degree.
If one steps outside the corporate created fantasy broadcast 24-7 by the media ( taking time to deprogram ones mind) , it is plain to see that we are for the most part automatons who will spend when told , hate on command, and ignore obvious truths, all at the bidding of the man behind the curtain.
IF I have anything to advise it would be take the TV out of the living-room , put it in the yard and make a planter out of it. Grow some flowers to put on the grave of the United States of America.
Ron

1. Not the end, just a hiccup...
...or maybe a burp. A long, smelly beer-and-knockwurst burp. But it's not the end, unless the Mayans were right - then all bets are off.

2. not the end at all
problem is, how do we move forward from here?

So far, we're still imperialist interventionists who can't take care of our problems yet we'll export our "control" to the rest of the world.

America REALLY needs to be brought down a peg or six...we're far too sure of our own supremacy

It's a little depressing, but you are absolutely right. And yes, I agree, we should all kill our televisions.

If you can find that paper, I'd love to read it. It sounds fascinating.

4. you're not alone
I don't know if I would say that it's past the point of no return (because we, as a civilization have the power to turn around at almost any point), however we have certained entered a dangerous era. I personally am beginning to think that there are actually people in America who want this to happen (duh, I know, but it never ceases to amaze me). If we continue down this road, we'll ruin our reputation beyond repair, to be sure. For myself, I guess it hangs in the balance of the 04 election. If, after all the garbage that has transpired over the past three years, the mainstream populace still thinks that the Bush junta is a valid government and chooses to keep them in power (or allows bogus elections to pass as valid), I will move to the EU, or someplace that's still semi-sane, as I simply can't abide by these events being perpetrated in my name.

Time will tell, I guess. I have hope that this is not what people want, but there are still way too many sheeple who think this clown is a legitimate leader, which he is simply not.

5. Give me a BREAK!
"it is plain to see that we are for the most part automatons who will spend when told , hate on command, and ignore obvious truths, all at the bidding of the man behind the curtain."

Those of us who don't wear tinfoil hats refuse to buy-into your state of zombie-hood. Go outside; get so fresh air; think about campaigning for a strong, solid alternative to the man behind the curtain. Dean comes to mind, but, hell, anyone but Lieberman will do!

13. You've been taken--hook, line, and sinker
You're doing exactly as you've been instructed. The first line of defense against truth is to ridicule it. They've been a great success, to the point of getting you to argue against your own self-interests.

I have some advice: go outside; get some fresh air. Think about what's really happening. Don't be afraid of critical thinking; let it wash over you. Don't let your mind be afraid to ask any question it comes up with.

And most importantly, as the original poster stated, kill your TV. It clearly does you no good.

Search the truth rather than declare it.

6. I know of no historical example ...
... wherein a nation so infected with such a (proto)fascist oligarchy was ever able to cure itself. It's like an addiction. Addicts, left to their own devices, die.

8. some people haven't experienced - truly felt - have hit home ...
... things which could lead one to believe we've lost it ... I have had such life experiences, and as recent as 5 years ago, I had those feelings that we have 'passed the point of no return' ... no matter where I turned for help, for information ... the institutions ... the laws ... the infrastructure ... our justice and legal systems ... the money factor ... whatever ... I experienced 'a system' which didn't work for one of the 'of, by, for the people' people ... some people's lives are by luck, coincidence or whatever are shielded from such reality ... some people read the book and see the movie ... hear what others confess ... and, still 'don't get it' ... like the Vietnam War ... regrettably, for many, it took the flag-draped casket to come home to wake people up ...

... no, you're not alone ...

as long as we allow corporate good ol'boys to pollute our infrastructure; write our laws; control our lives; contaminate our daily lives with stress and angst ... things will not improve ... we need a total break from this corrosive, corrupt, negative, contentious influence

... we need a top to bottom law, institution and system review to map processes, behaviors, obstacles ... implementing best practices ... total process (life) improvement ...

we can reduce the stresses and obstacles to make life a little bit more human and manageable ... but, it will take some effort ... and leadership with supportive leadership ... don't expect the likes of Trent Lott or any corporate lackey on Capitol Hill to lead the way ...

10. Deprogram... steps outside... feudal states...
...While I definitely support the end of the USA in a sense that it should be divided into 5-10 smaller countries, I don't think that such an end is imminent.

Moreover, stop using terms such as "brainwash," "deprogram," and "outside the box." We can logically infer from an argument that uses such terms that everyone who opposes it is brainwashed, thinking inside a box, etc., and thus we shouldn't listen to him - in other words, such arguments can't be refuted and are just automatically refuted.

Very impressive post. Mabye if I had taken a freshman poli-sci class at Marshall University, I could come up with something so profound.

17. Cold War is the key
Have to agree that the US and USSR are the mirror images of each other. The main difference is really just the method of funding their war machines. The Cold War was actually World War III, and the sooner we accept that fact the sooner we can rebuild.

The Cold War, as arms race, produced more deaths than any other war in history, but they are unacknowledged and unaccounted for. In the US and USSR, the nuclear testing and chem/bio testing resulted in a planet whose atmosphere, particularly the northern hemisphere, is blanketed with cancer-causing, DNA damaging material that has produced deaths and illnesses primarily among the civilian population. We just call it "cancer, birth defects, mental illness and chronic illnesses" but translates into an unhealthy population.
The Cold War was really mutual suicide.

As long as the US revels in its so-called victory of the Cold War - BFEE has a free hand to convert that cash cow into PNAC's permanent war. I think that until Americans choose peace, BFEE will have their way.
