Poll question: Who do you support for the Democratic nomination?
Well it has been a couple of weeks since the last poll on this question and some interesting things have happened. Dean surged in NH in one poll, Kerry made it official and seems to have gotten a bounce, Clark declared himself a Democrat and it appears he probably will be getting in sometime this month, and there was a debate in New Mexico where many felt Gep came on strong and Lieberman turned in a fiesty performance. Edwards took the lead in a poll in South Carolina, Kucinich continues to rock the anti-war left, Mosley Braun won the endorsement of NOW.

Did these events make any difference on DU?

Who do you support for the Democratic Nomination in 2004?

1. It's too early still!
Give me until December to decide, and then I'll start working on his/her campaign January 10th.
Then, after the convention, if needed I'll change to the convention winner.

2. we have to narrow it down a little
I would remove Sharpton, Braun, and maybe Clark from the list. Braun and Sharpton because they have no chance, and Clark because he hasn't announced. I want to see where those votes go once there candidates are gone.

3. I voted for Kucinich, but
not as much for the anti-war stance (although I agree there) but more on labor, healthcare and justice in general.

I also like Moseley-Braun (see my signature line).

Once the nominee is announced, however, I will get behind him and campaign like mad to rid ourselves of the Bush administration!

Results are interesting, but I agree that it doesn't mean too much at this point. We really have to see if Clark gets in.

6. Anybody but Bush
I must wait because with this primary system (being native from another country I really cannot see the benefit of the primaries, sorry) it is kind of a wild guess as to who is going to come out in front of the pack. I like Kerry, Dean, Clark... Kucinich is wonderful, but I don't think at this point he has the traction to be the front runner of the present democratic candidates.

9. in the end
I think most of us on DU will close behind the eventual nominee--I'm impressed by this field actually--I think it is very strong--No Dwarfs here.

34. I would imagine the primary system
might not make sense to one who is native to another country, however, I respectfully ask you to please participate by voting in your own state primary - it really does make a difference!

Thank you.

order of the poll. I favor three candidates, but I voted for Edwards this time because I was impressed by his debate the other day.

I see Clark with Graham as VP as a team that could win. I am sure that Clark is electable as long as he can hide his prima donna shit.

Edited on Sat Sep-06-03 12:56 PM by tjdee
It's too soon to tell much about Clark. I don't know what his plans are.

I like very many of Edwards' plans, and I like him. He's my first choice for many reasons.

I get very comfortable when I think about either of them up against Bush. Very comfortable. The rest of that lot make me nervous to varying degrees.

23. 5 yes - 4 no - 1 maybe
I can vote with a clear conscience for Dean, Clark, Kucinich, Mosely-Braun and Sharpton. Graham is the maybe, I just don't know enough about his anti-war stance. The other four will not get my vote. Voting for the massacre and then becoming a born-again anti-warrior is a bit too much hyporcrisy for my nostrils to tolerate.

I voted for Clark, but otherwise I'm for Dean. Still, I am in the minority, as I think most of Clark's support is coming from Kerry and the DLC candidates.

32. Edwards
A truly decent, sensible and principled person.

Give him a look if you haven't...

He's easily the most electable, but that's not my major point.

This could be a man for the ages: a warm and charismatic person to bring us back into the community of nations and to repair the destruction of the current monarchists.
