Something strikes me as a little bit odd. More people who portrayed an attitude that is Anti-Muslim AND Dutch have been attacked than people in the Christian Right who are Anti-Muslim AND American.
I didn't know who Theo van Gogh was until he died. My sympathies are with his family, but we have to remember he was discriminatory toward Jews, Muslims, and Moroccans. He was a Bigot who was killed by another Bigot.
Now take Jerry Falwell. He is known all over the world and every DU'er should know about this bigot. He is more of a bigot than van Gogh was, Falwell used to support Segregation, he is anti-Semitic, he is against GLBT people, he doesn't like Muslims, and I could list more. Falwell's comments have angered the Muslim world over and over again. Once, a Muslim leader issued a fatwa against Falwell. But, Falwell, unlike all the Dutch people who were murdered, continues to become more wealthy and more powerful.
Am I calling for something to happen to the leaders of the Christian Right? No. Would I like to see them ousted from power? Yes, but only through legal means.
I just find it unusual that Dutch bigots are in more danger from Islamic terrorists and the American 'Conservative' 'Christians' continue to accumulate power and wealth.
