I am thinking the GOP will nominate someone precieved to be more moderate and less connected with Bush.

A big question is if Cheney will step down as veep during the 2nd term due to health reasons. If that happens the new veep would be the front runner in 2008.

If WhistleAss serves a second term, I think they'll be stuck with Cheney. I don't think he has a self-scrificial bone in his body. I think Jeb is a good chance, too. Either if Chimpy McAwol doesn't win, or if Cheney bows out because of ill health.

he'd be like Sharpton for the Repukes. Which is why the GOP will never nominate him. Rove isn't that dumb.

Frist is pretty unpopular with his current job as Senate Majority Leader, count him out.

Tom Ridge wants it apparentely, but he's pro-choice, count him out.

My guess is Hagel.

because in 2008 Bush will be seen exactly as he is, the most incompetant and worst president we've ever had. So that's a plus for Hagel, he could argue he did stand against the corrupt administration at times.

While Bush may look like a joke at first, he has the bonus of being the son of a former president. That's the only reason why he got the nomination. Plus he was able to campaign as a centrist. There is no way the GOP would be able to portray DeLay as a centrist after some of the comments he's made, and he'd have trouble getting even the Republicans to vote for him in the northeast and west coast. He'd win a few deep south states and the 3 ultraconservative western ones (Wyoming, Idaho and Utah) That's it. The Democrat would get all the swing voters and even a good chunk of the Republicans.
