The 9/11 comparison is what really hurts me, as a New Yorker

I am ashamed. We were comforted by the sympathy and support of the entire world after we were attacked.

Now, in the face of incomprehensible, epic death and destruction, I am represented by George Bush, who offers miserly support and cannot even interrupt his vacation to lend his assistance. I am mortified, horrified, as a New Yorker. I pray the world does not see his actions as mine. It's mortifying.

George Bush has no sympathy for New Yorkers just as he has no sympathy for the Asians. He's a coward and a narcissist.

9. Aw, this is the guy who cried with people as governor

Remember the bullshit about how one of his jobs as governor was to "cry with folks" -- i.e. victims of disasters in TX?

He doesn't give a SHIT about the victims of this tragic event. He does not comprehend it. He is not lazing on his ranch -- instead, he is sitting with his most intimate advisors, and they are plotting a way to make Asians great disaster work into their Master Plan to reshape the planet -- that's why he's been too busy to say a word,

And like everything else the "Vulcans" have done, they will make our relations with the world even worse. We the People will suffer the consequences of their actions for generations. I didn't vote for the bastard -- and in time more and more people will regret that they did.

She said, "It is hard to overstate the hatred for America over here."

The look on her face said it all.

It's no excuse but it does explain it when you remind yourself that these people (bushco) are not normal--they are indeed sociopaths.

4. I feel the same way

I am not a New Yorker, but I remember the outpouring of love we received on our own day of horror, all of us, not just those of you in NYC. People all over the world spontaneously streamed into embassies to hold vigils or weep in sympathy; people spontaneously embraced Americans who were abroad.

I am ashamed of the way our government has responded.

Bush does not represent me.

New Yorkers represent me -- you guys did us proud that day, and all the days that followed. New York is a heroic city.

I was never so proud of my country as I was when I saw how New Yorkers took the necessary tasks upon themselves that day, and how so many millions of Americans mobilized to help out any way they could.

I'm proud of the America that has been swamping the phoneline and internet sites of charities, to rush emergency supplies to our human family, because, alas, our government has failed to do so.

I live in NW FL and sell toilets for a living, specifically Toto, best on the market, with three plants in the US.

Now, that the commercial is over, after 9/11, out of the blue, I get a card from parent company expressing condolences for "my losses" due to the terrorist attack.

I lost countrymen true. But the Japanese also lost countrymen that day.

I still cannot get over the personal note. If I had never received it, I would not have thought twice, but having received it, I do think twice now. And what I wonder is...Am I doing enough?

That the UN comments and George's stinginess seem to have started an international donations pissing contest, which can only be to the benefit of the tsunami victims.

I was reading the BBC messages looking for information on the missing. It made me so aware of what George doesn't know: that Australians have friends in Thailand and a Dutchman can be concerned about a Frenchwoman with an Indonesian husband...people from all over the world were searching for friends from all over the world. Because the people of this planet have relationships more complicated than any national boundaries.

Sometimes I forget that.

final nail in the coffin, as far as the world's attitude toward helping us in the future is concerned. :-(

Along with BRIC, Cuban oil, shifting from the dollar to the euro, and any number of other things, the US is soon to be boned.

12. You make an excellent point. Many countries did not think twice

during 9/11 before offering their sympathies to the American people. Bush has already squandered this goodwill with his war on terror. And now this less than passionate response to this emergency. Bush is very much an insular president. It's too bad the rest of the world thinks that he was duly-elected by the American people.
