"RepublicansAgainstTheRecall.com is a coalition of Republican business leaders, current and former GOP elected officials, and Republican activists opposed to the proposed recall of Governor Gray Davis.

These Republican leaders are opposed to the recall because:

--We are opposed to the recall of any elected official who has not committed acts of corruption or malfeasance, and is not physically or mentally incapacitated in any way which would preclude him from serving out his term of office.

(they must have fought Clinton's impeachment)

--The recall is a colossal political gamble which could actually result in a new, strong and popular (add "Latino") Democratic Governor sitting in the State House, which would harm GOP election chances in California in 2004 and 2006.

(as opposed to an old, undecided actor-governor)

--The recall diverts important Republican political and financial resources from what should be the number one goal (change to: "hellish nightmare") of all California Republicans: the re-election of President George W. Bush, including his victory in California."
