Dean labels Bush a "tax shifter"
Does Dean visit DU? We've been saying we should call the GOP tax cuts "tax shifts" for sometime. Interesting.

Excerpt:

"Today the President used his weekly radio address to praise his education bill, No Child Left Behind. Behind his glowing rhetoric is an unfortunate reality: Another broken promise by this President, who has broken his pledge to fund the statute's new demands, creating crushing burdens for local school boards and teachers throughout America. The funding is simply not there, and local leaders already burdened by widespread federal program cuts and strains created by mismanagement of the economy are struggling to find new resources to pay the bill. All too often, the only solution is to raise property and state taxes, giving lie to the notion that this President is a tax cutter. He is simply a tax shifter." http://www.deanforamerica.com/

1. Yay
May the meme tax shifter grow and grow. (I don't doubt that Dean staff members check into DU, and this tax shifter label has been all over the o-blog.)

2. I wish more people had a clue
about this. They get their little bribe in the mail and blow it at Wal-Mart and Home Depot and think they are sitting pretty. Then their school funding is cut, park services suffer, after-school services get cut and the states are in a position to keep cutting or raise taxes. Then there's the counties etc. raising property taxes cause what they got from the state is cut because what they got from the Fed. Gov. got cut and on it goes.

Joe Six-pack is gonna pay, the only variable is who he sends the check to and, subsequently, blames for "high taxes".

3. Dean is very smart. And so is his staff.
We've got Bush is a "tax shifter". We also have Dean's comments today on the recall election in CA: "I think this is the fourth attempt to undermine democracy in this country by the right wing of the Republican Party since the 2000 elections," said Dean. Other examples, he said, were the refusal by the "conservative-dominated United States Supreme Court" to order a recount of the votes in Florida during the 2000 presidential election and separate GOP-led redistricting efforts in Colorado and Texas that could result in a loss of seats currently held by Democrats. "I believe the right wing of the Republican Party is deliberately undermining the democratic underpinnings of this country,"

This is GREAT stuff!
