The relief will come mostly from private donations. Our government truly is the stingiest of all of the developed countries -- we spend less per capita on aid than any of the others. Maybe that's because Bush would rather spend it on conquering and killing. Makes him feel like the big, tough cowboy he isn't.

9. If Clinton had been president he'd have spoken up instantly

and he would have spoken sincerely, too, without having to wait days for somebody else to figure out the right words to say. But Bush couldn't do it because he has the soul of a tapeworm and he had no idea how to act or what to say, so he just stayed out of sight at the pig farm, cutting brush (is there any left there?), and probably communing with his good pal Jack Daniels. Any one of us could have improvised a credible statement because we give a damn about what happened. But Bush couldn't do it because he obviously doesn't give a crap.
