I'm sure his advisors knew that concerned Americans would be crying out for more aid to be sent and in this way he can put the blame for the price of the aid squarely on the American people. So when we are suffering from our own disasters, he can just shrug and say, too bad the money is not there, it was your choice to send it to a foreign land.

This is just the way they think. It also gets him points with his hate-filled extremist "base" who believe no aid should go to anyone at any time anywhere.

...And at the risk of being flamed (I'm sure I will) I will disagree that ONLY Dems are compassionate, which implies not one single Republican is compassionate. We can argue about levels of compassion (and I will agree that Dems are generally much more compassionate than Repubs), and targets of that compassion.
