Well folks we did it again. Today at Second and C we got together for a small get together among friends. The topic was, as usual, about counting those pesky votes. We also want to let our Mayor know that we do not take kindly to 5,547 votes being thrown out and not counted just because people wrote a name (Donna Frye) but did not fill a bubble.
Here is the extremely good news... our little get togethers have grown from oh 25 people almost a month ago, freezing our behinds in the rain to 300, we estimate for today.
We had a good slew of speakers, all local, including John Fauchi (a local activist who has been in the trenches since that other movement). What is most important though is that people are realizing that Democracy ain't a spectator sport, and if we want to contest the vote for Frye (and Junior) we need to get involved.
I wish I could post photos, but alas I do not have a website where this could be done... and unless I can upload piccies....
Anyhow, it was very peaceful, in some ways it almost looked like an afternoon out for the whole family. Yes people brought their pets and kids to this event. Some of the people present (one) was on crutches and another on a wheelchair. That alone speaks volumes.
Oh and yes the media was present en force, now lets see if they bother showing it...
