DEANocrats: do you, too, get giddy
when reading the national and international press matter of factly now referring to the doctor as "the democratic front-runner"?

i get giddy like a little school girl (errr, i mean, a very MASCULINE giddy school girl) when i read it...

for those of us who've been in this for the long haul, what an amazing ride it's been, eh?

and to think, we're just getting revved up...

damn, it feels so good to be a dean supporter today...

1. I know I did.
It's been a long time since December 2000, and it's wonderful to feel HOPE again. With Dean in the lead, and with Bush's numbers now near a low point, I'm feeling very good about 2004.. that little nagging worry about a Dukakais-style result is no longer in my mind. I think it'll be another kind of race where no candidate will get over 280 electoral votes, and I think that if Dean can bring out new voters, he'll carry the day.

2. I don't, actually
Edited on Sat Sep-06-03 11:03 PM by forradalom
Anything can happen over the next year. I focus on what I can do to support Dean. The result is out of my hands.

On edit: Now, am I happy to hear Bush's approval rating has dipped to 45%? You bet!

12. Those of us with the campaign since...
...the early days cannot help but be excited. I recall my first meet-up at which we frankly discussed we were at best long shots.

But you are absolutely right. We need to be sober and realistic and concede that we should NOT be complacent; we must not let up.

The Sleepless Summer was exilirating, but it only the beginning. We have a lot of work to do, especially given the Republican control of a completely shameless Press, the very real possibility of vote fraud, the hundreds of millions in bribes Bush has taken, etc.

I hope too, that, although I have been guilty myself of not doing so, that we will show respect to the other candidates. Whichever of us is to win the nomination will need the kind of unity and focus shown at the New Mexico debates.

13. Eyes on the prize, NNadir
You got that one right. The prize is evict Bush from the peoples' White House. And we do have a wonderful slate of candidates from which to choose; I just happen to like Dean better than the others.

BTW Welcome to DU!! :hi:

I'm excited to be making my first post on DU. And what better thread to do it on! I'm sorry to confess I've been a lurker for a little while. Love the BBV and Dean threads.

15. Your signature is funny, liberalmuse--
especially for me being from California. I'm also giddy because I went to my first real live Dean rally today, got a great front-row place and shook the Governor's hand. But I have to agree with Eloriel that the best thing today was Dean's press conference with Davis even though I've only read about it so far.

I'm feeling very welcomed. Thank you, DU.
(Sorry,no smilie--I'm having trouble with the smilies this
time.)

9. Nahhh,
I got used to that REAL quick.

What makes ME swoon is when he does something totally gutsy and yet totally, utterly RIGHT ON -- like stump for Davis, from your earlier thread. Loved that photo you posted, btw, even tho I'm not much of a Davis fan (tho of course don't want the recall to succeed).

Eloriel

21. Dean has guts and integrity!
But that's something we knew all along.

As others announce their candidacy, there will be dips in his numbers, but I believe they will go back up. Lots of people still don't know who he is, and as they get to know him, they like him (the people of Iowa and NH, among others, have gotten to know him, and look what's happened there.) While I like Clark, he doesn't have experience governing, and that's no small thing to dismiss. I personally think he's in this for VP, even if he announces, and Dean/Clark would be a fine ticket.

17. I believe Gray Davis appeared humble and grateful
for Deans support. He was also the Dr. Dean today. I have been so euphoric since he spoke so deliberate and intentionally at this administration. He did not mince any words. The most gutzie thing I have ever heard from a politician.

Now thats my way of saying, "Bring it on."

11. Dean makes me proud to be a democrat...
now, saying that, i wish there was someone who would make me be proud to be a socialist, but that day is yet to come.... one day :9

16. Oh I'm a Deaniac, Deaniac!
It feels GREAT to be a Dean supporter every day!

Damn, newsguy, I don't think I was quite this giddy when I fell madly and permanently in love with JFK in 1956 when I was 11 and he came THIS close to getting the Vice Presidential nomination with Stevenson.

Of course the stakes weren't as high then either.

19. Gotta Admit
Feel a little giddy and a little smug - I've been a Deaniac since last year.

It's so refreshing to see an intelligent candidate with a smart campaign!
