Right Wing Dictator George W. Bush (news - web sites) (C) put his father, George Bush (news - web sites) (R), and his predecessor, Bill Clinton (news - web sites), in charge of efforts to shakedown the American middle class and poor for those nations devastated by the Indian Ocean tsunamis. Asked why Bush is pushing the burden for disaster relief onto America's poor and middle class instead of asking the rich to pay their fair share, Bush responded "Hey, I am a greedy bastard Republican, what do you expect?" Also asked why he hadn't contributed to disaster relief personally, Bush responded, "Why should millionaires like me help the poor and stupid when we can get the poor and the stupid to do it for us? Get real!"

pushing the burden down the ladder. If they needed a few billion to buy bombs, Bush would have it in a New York minute. When it comes to death and destruction money is no object. How many billions have been spent in Iraq so far? 300b 600b? I lost count...

3. The more and more I think about it the more I rrealize they want to

try and get in the world's "Good Graces" again by having a President who probably was respected by most--if not all of the world over all stand next to IT. They think if President Clinton stands next to IT they will begin to like him...

Not to say President Clinton didn't have his faults and all BUT compare to these past 4 years Clinton looks more and more like Jefferson, Lincoln, Franklin, and Washington rolled into one.

Today, we see Clinton lending crediblity to Bush.

Notice that Jimmy Carter isn't there....Jimmy was pretty harsh in his Convention speech and is running his own charity. I'm glad I don't see Carter in this picture. Carter seems to be the most consistent in his attitude toward Bush.

I don't think Clinton is indifferent at all.

However, when it comes to earthquake/tsuami relief, he knows there's a great mission at hand, and unlike a lot of Republicans, he's able to put politics aside to help people.

recently there was a story about clinton in central park being shouted at by a freeper type who criticised him as a bad comm.-in-chief or something: clinton stopped and told the guy some facts, completely blew the guy away, and a large crowd gathered, loving it! no, clinton isn't 'indifferent' to the real thing, the street, just the alice in fundyland bs you see reflected in 'fox' news and cnn etc...the same crap that makes geeb (brother of flo guv john ellis, or 'jeb') a president with less then 50% favourable rating even before his re-inauguration...

16. Clinton in Central Park

Yes, I loved that story about Clinton in Central Park. I loved it when he told the man who shouted at him "I hope your children turn out to be as perfect as you are, sir." That was dead on!! Because Clinton was basically telling that man "let he who is without sin cast the first stone." It was brilliant.

The point I was trying to make though, is that Clinton is a classy man. He has compassion and grace, and I just think he's able to put politics aside at a moment like this, to work for the greater good (the relief effort).

8. These disaster threads confirms what the world thinks about about

how self involved we (the US) are. The story in the US is not the tsunami anymore or the plight of the people affected. Somehow we have managed to turn the story into a story about us --

Did Bush speak soon enough?
Did Bush give enough?
Was 35 million enough - is 350 million enough?
How does 350 million compare to what we spend in Iraq in a day?
Will Halliburton get contracts?
Are we using the military in a relief role for some type of advantage?

Blah , blah , blah , blah blah - somehow every story turns into being all about us.

There's plenty to criticize in bush. He WAS fucking slow to respond, hell he didn't even interrupt his precious vacation to make a statement until he was practically FORCED to, he didn't order the flags at half-staff until just a couple of days ago, he offered what is really a PALTRY amount at first that was just downright selfish ($35 mil is a drop in the bucket of our foreign relief aid!), and I think it's pretty crappy if Halliburton et al PROFIT from these people's misery.

Bush spends hundreds of Billions in Iraq dropping bombs and then it's like pulling teeth to get a promise of a couple hundred mil out of him for probably the largest disaster in recorded history of the planet.

It must pain those repukes so much to give charity to 'less than white' people in need. They are now (with Clinton) putting the burden back on the poor and middle class for disaster relief while they drop billions in Iraq.

They outsourced all of our jobs, how are we supposed to give to anyone?

Bush continues to turn the world against us with his greed, racism and arrogance and spoil what little sympathy was left after 911 for our people.

The US needs to pledge at least a billion to relief efforts to have any credibility what so ever.
