by the 17% Medicare premium. So $18 is not going to help.

I'm opting out of Medicare once my wife officially enrolls to a new insurance program.

I got 2.01% this year.
2% is what you get for showing up sober and not smelling like a cat-box. anything more is "merit". My supervisor credited me on my review with re-inventing fire and bringing peace to the Mid-East.

.01% was what that was worth.

Oh, and inflation in this region was 3.7% last year...

12. LOL - in 1973 my boss at Famous Recipe fried Chicken (fast food)

called me into his office after I had been working there 6 months. At that time minimum wage was $1.60. He made a big deal telling me what a great worker I was and how well I had been doing and how much I deserved a raise. He expounded on how the company liked to recognize and reward good performers. He then added up my time card and announced he was multiplying the total hours by my new and improved hourly wage with the merit pay raise -- $1.65 an hour - probably made the check $1 higher than it would have been - I was probably working 20 hours a week.

I thought to myself- OK that settles it - I AM going to the French Riviera for vacation with my new found wealth.

...He didn't want to put me over the edge that would cause me to lose my food stamps...

6. It's January 4th

I have no money until January 31st. Really. My cat and I may actually go hungry for some of this month-and forget about getting sick. If I didn't have a free bus pass thanks to my job, I wouldn't even be able to get to work. And, yes, I work full-time. And, no, I have no credit card debt-no debt except student loans. My BF is in the same boat. I might take my three fluent languages and four proficiencies to Europe. It's getting obvious to me that I don't matter here. Sorry, after years of fruitless work I can't help but think this. And it's taken a lot not to get cynical about most Americans, who really are good people-and as screwed as I am.

SSDI is paid with social security taxes, federal salaries are paid with income taxes. different pools of money completely.

I can understand you are dissapointed with your increase, but why are you taking it out on other people, equally hard working and deserving?
