McCauliffe is an aweful debator
If there is one thing I hate it's substituting talking points, buzzwords, and catchprases for real debate.

and then repeating the same thing in subsequent responses

I think Begala said he was a good fundraiser and not great as a spokesperson. I think I agree with that.

20. McCauliffe had RNC Chair, Ed Gillespie speechless at one point.
Terry knows his facts and figures and can easily articulate them.

2. The Repuke isn't much better
Edited on Sun Sep-07-03 10:16 AM by RationalRose
so it's kind of a boring debate-all talking points.

'Miserable Failure' seems to be the new catch phrase a la Gephardt.

McAuliffe is still better informed than his opponent, but they just seem to be rehashing the same old shit.

3. Terry is mopping up the floor with Gillespie
"Clinton inherited a recession and record deficits from Bush Sr., he didn't blame Bush, he got his economic recovery act passed without a single republican vote, and the economy took off"

:toast:

8. I was looking at the difference between their hair.
McAuliffe and Gillespie. Why do the right wingers all have that "toady" look with that same slicked over hair? Gillespie, Delay, Thomas, Frist. I'm trying to think of liberals with that same hair issue.

McAuliffe, Hagel (a "moderate" Republican), Kerry, Dean, etc. don't have that same hair thing going on. Is it a Southern thing?

15. The repukes all have spot baldness issues
and thus the combovers and combarounds.

Probably from their overuse of marijuana in college days.

9. McCauliffe cleaned Gillespie's clock today
Of course, that's kind of like Mike Tyson fighting a pillow, but he still clobbered him.

11. Not much of a contest, I agree
I mean, anyone who says, "We are the party of fiscal responsibilty, the party of Reagan", with a straight face is a real featherweight opponent. Red Ink Ronny = Fiscal Responsibility? Ha ha ha ha!!!

16. He's been worse.
I would have liked to have seen Terry do a little more cheerleading when presented with the Zogby poll, but, of course, Gillespie wouldn't let him get a word in (and I don't blame him; the Zogby poll is awful news for WhistleAss and great news for us!).

I was practically choking on my coffee when that Republican idiot accused the Democrats of being "mean and negative."

19. The Dems could get a much more effective spokesman. But most of
the job may be fund-raising and he has the Clinton blessing.

I was glad he brought up the Bush smear campaign against McCain. It seems very underreported.

McAuliffe is very brash and a turn-off to even his own base.
