"Air America Radio" and "Public Service Announcements" |
When a commercial on "Air America" ends with the words, "This was a Public Service Announcement from...the Ad Council"
does that mean "Air America" didn't get paid?

1. It depends. Due to loosening of FCC rules, broadcast stations |
are no longer required to donate a given percentage of airtime for non-profit public servce messages.

3. My college radio station frequently gets pre-recorded PSAs in the mail. |
If we feel they're an appropriate part of the station's non-commercial mission, we air 'em free of charge.

5. When you hear a station run PSA's it means |
that they aren't selling enough ad time. Traditonally, however, after Christmas is a slow time for radio/TV media buys.
