Look, I live in Texas. I've seen many a sight that would make the fashion police go pale. But the Bush family never gets it right.

Among the older generation, there was a look of well-tailored subtly western suits with discreet dark boots--with an LBJ-style pearl gray Stetson for outdoors. This was for business wear. When the old dudes were dragged to a formal event, they wore black tie as dictated by their wives. And the wives would be dressed by the finest of designers--not Acme Slipcovers.

There is a Dress Western look, seen for Livestock Show fundraisers & other events. Perhaps a bit gaudy by Northeastern standards, but colorful & funky. Endangered species boots? Buckskin? Lots of turquoise? Yes, to all of those. But those who dress like that actually enjoy the Western life. Someone else may run their ranches, but they actually know how to ride. They do more on their weekends than get sozzled. (Not to say that some of them don't get sozzled.)

But Bushie doesn't have the nerve to go full-drag cowboy. So we're subjected to fashion atrocities such as this.
