The Republic is dead. The Empire has begun. Long live the Republic!

Just like in the times of Ceasar, the citizens of the US have traded their precious self rule for bread and circuses. Instead of gladiators, we watch NFL and Fear Factor. Instead of animals on parade, we watch American Idol. And instead of bread, we have cheap gas.

2004 was not a decicive year, in all truth. The decision was made back in 2000 when an illegal usurper was appointed president by a partisan Supreme Court. 2002 merely solidified this, and 2004 slammed the final nail in the coffin for democracy.

The Ceasar of today is not a figure, but a group which is mainly made of the GOP, but also enlists Democrats. It controls the media, both houses of Congress, the White Hosue, the Supreme Court and most importantly the voting machines which validate our false consent.

And as we know, power corrupts, absoulte power corrupts absoutely. When any group of individuals gains power, they become paranoid, angry and fearful. They turn on those who seek to stop them. They turn on those around them. And they turn on themselves.

So raise a toast to the glorious experiment in self rule that begun 1776 and ended in January of 2001! May some of our descendants live to see self rule exist again someday!

Th question is- why 2000? Were eight years of Clinton the tipping point? Did the Neocons just HAVE to start their revolution, figuring the Reagan admnistration didn't do enough, and that they finally needed power 9 years after the end of the Cold War?

The GOP used the 8 years of Clinton to take Congress. Bush threw '92 so because he knew the GOP couldn't take Congress with Iran/Contra hanging around their necks.

Also keep in mind the goals of the PNAC. Fulfilling Americas role as the sole superpower to dominate the world. Pax Romana if you will.

10. I suggest everyone read "Citizens of the Empire" by Jensen

I read this book by Robert Jensen over the holidays and it was incredible. He isn't as well known as Chomsky or Zinn, but his message still packs a heck of a punch. Jensen speaks very eloquently about why he is not a patriot, does not support the troops, 9/11 scandals, etc.

The one theme that Jensen revolves around is activism. Like Nader said, a rushing river (or tsunami----kinda un-PC now though) is simply composed of many, tiny droplets of H20 combined together.
