this morning on "Imus in the Morning" I heard something that is both disturbing and upsetting. This year's inagural celebration is going to cost $50 million dollars--yes I know the money comes from private donors--but still! In the mean time, veteran/patients at Walter Reed Hospital are having to make-do with facilities that were built before WWII and are required to pay for their own telephone calls! No matter how you feel about the war in Iraq (I have been against the thing since the war chant began) this is an insult to these veterans. I am personally sending a check to Walter Reed Hospital today with instructions that it is to to buy some phone cards to be distributed to the vets there.
If you would like to make a contribution (I am sure that any amount would be apprecited) the address is:
WALTER REED MEDICAL COMPLEX 6900 GEORGIA AVENUE, NW WASHINGTON, DC 20307-5001 ATTN: PATIENT SERVICES
I suggest that you include a note that says that your donation is to go to purchase phone cards and I also suggest that you make note of the fact that you are a Democrat.
Happy New Year!
