One More Example the Fox News Ratings line is Bogus

We all know that many people make a big deal about the ratings of FOX News. Here is one more example that shows all the talk about FOX News' rating is just bogus. I was skiming through the local paper today and saw an article about the PBS news show Now with Bill Moyers. In the article it was mentioned that the show had about 2.5 million viewers. This means a show that gets very little media attention has the same or higher ratings than the flagship show on FOX News, which is the Bill O' Reilly Show. The fact that Now with Bill Moyers has such a high viewership proves that this talk that people prefer FOX News is just a big bowl of nonsense. The fact that a show that is talked about so little can get the same ratings or higher than the Bill O' Reilly Show with all the publicity the Bill O ' Reilly show gets. Imagine if people actually knew that Now with Bill Moyers plays on TV, it would be kicking the butt of FOX News. People just want a show that informs them. The other news shows should start trying to inform people.

2. The problem isn't fox news themselves most people I know...

even who aren't liberals, just that they aren't lockstep republicans, think Fox news is a joke. Middle of the road, reasonable people don't watch that shit. So for us to have our own version of it would be useless and it would be viewed in exactly the same way as people view Fox news.

What we need is for regular news networks like ABC, NBC, CBS, and even CNN and MSNBC to not try to out fox fox. Just report the news without worrying about having a goddamned point or counterpoint to everything.

The problem isn't Fox news themselves and we don't need our own answer to Fox news. What we need is for the other networks to stop trying to be Fox news and instead just report the actual facts.

4. When "Donahue" had a show he gave his opinion.

When Al Franken's radio show was broadcast on Sundance TV, he gave his opinion.

We don't have to avoid opinionated tv.

We just need a tv lineup like:
"The Bill Clinton Show" at 6 PM.
"The Tim Robbins Show" at 7 PM.
"The Amy Goodman Show" 8 PM.
"The Bill Moyers Show' at 9 PM.

This is why we need a real News network. CBS ABC MSNBC CNN are just gonna fold to there Parent Co's big donor recipients... That being the GOP becasue the GOP gives them what they want.

3. Fox bends the truth, what else is new?

The way the ratings are determined is in half hour blocks. Fox comes out on top with this method because they have people who watch it all day. CNN & NBC actually have a greater number of viewers, they just don't watch it as long as the typical Fox viewer.
My feeling is the reason Fox views watch it for long periods is that it takes several repetitions of the same thing to sink in. Even then they'll often get it wrong.

6. If I could get liberal news on cable,

I might consider signing up for it once again. As long as the only watchable news shows are on public television, why should I pay for cable? There are a lot of us out here who would buy liberal cable.

7. More Than 2.5.......

Bill Moyers NOW gets 2.5 to 3.0 million viewers, so sometimes he gets more viewers than O'Reilly. The O'Reilly factor had 2.3 million viewers wednesday night and 2.7 million viewers thursday night. And the factor averaged a 2.7 for october and november, yet O'Reilly claims to get 6 million viewers a night.

Bill Moyers gets 2.5 to 3.0 million viewers on PBS with a once a week show that has no advertising. And the show is on a friday night, which is one of the lowest rated nights for TV shows.

is when you show them that Howard Stern has more listeners than Rush.
