SANTIAGO, Jan. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- A Chilean judge on Friday accused former president and retired general Augusto Pinochet of having four false passports after a swoop in his private office.
Sergio Munoz, who is investigating Pinochet's millions of dollars in secret accounts at the US Riggs Bank, said the tribunal "has four passports presumably bearing different identities."
Munoz said the search helped prove that Pinochet had bank accounts, not only in the United States, but in other countries as well.
Pinochet's lawyer Pablo Rodriguez filed a complaint before the Santiago Court of Appeals against the judge, claiming the search of the office was illegal and unconstitutional because it violated the immunity from prosecution that Pinochet enjoys in his capacity as former president.
