Great Bridge Baptist Church is his congregation. Here is their website.
http://www.freewillbaptist.com/salvation_layout.htmlFor the sake of not looking like a lot of crackpots please do not harrass them. They have a right to believe as they do. Cosgrove does not have a right to try and make the law reflect his religious beliefs. But that is no reason to harrass his church. I just think we should know where he is coming from. When he says he has no ulterior motive for this legislation, I wouldn't believe him as far as I could throw him. His congregation is extremely conservative.
He has also introduced legislation to change the constitution of his state to codify his bigotry. The legislation is to declare marriage between a man and a woman only.
Here is his web page, bio and record.
http://dela.state.va.us/dela/MemBios.nsf/0/EDAFC52BFEFCF8FD85256F7E00694FDA?OpenDocument.I searched and tried to find out exactly how many dumpster babies VA has each year. Cosgrove, in his e-mail to Democracy4Va claims this legislation is in response to police in his state who only want to prevent dumpster babies. Ummmm, I doubt it. In any case this is not the way to solve that problem.
The just way to solve that problem would be to make abortion available and easy to obtain in their state. The secound piece would be to have a week long grace period where woman could leave their babies at hospitals or shelters, no questions asked.
If anyone knows MauraInVa at the DFAVa site, could you please pass along to her the following questions to ask Cosgrove (since she seems to have his attention).
How many "dumpster babies" are found each year in VA? Does that number justify the invasion of the privacy of all women? Have they ever considered any other type of legislation to deal with this problem, for instance that would help women and assume the best of them, rather than punish and assume the worst of them?
Ps...... please see this other thread for the original information.
