RW American Dictator Bush to Send in the "Death Squads"
--snip--
faced with a losing war against Salvadoran rebels, the U.S. government funded or supported "nationalist" forces that allegedly included so-called death squads directed to hunt down and kill rebel leaders and sympathizers. Eventually the insurgency was quelled, and many U.S. conservatives consider the policy to have been a success—despite the deaths of innocent civilians and the subsequent Iran-Contra arms-for-hostages scandal.

1. Bush spreading freedom once again
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 12:06 AM by Erika
The so called "Christian" president wants economic dominance over every country on earth regardless of the wants of the locals or their deaths.

Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 12:07 AM by Goldeneye
I thought the war was going well? quagmire? wait...what?

I wonder whats going on in the brains of people who only watch the msm...this must be kind of a shock. They've been reporting that every thing was awesome in Iraq until very recently.

3. No...
They still think that the Iraqi's have more freedom now than before we invaded their country. I swear that's what a RWer said to me recently.

4. No good can come of the chimps election.
Putting our own "death squads" into Iraq, to kill anybody (civilians who are exercising free speech) who disagrees with being occupied. Nice touch, even for a major demon! I'm just so damn proud to be able to finance this type of psychopathic insanity with my humble little tax bill.

As a taxpayer, I'd only ask for some "reality TV" from Mosul, etc. Something like Quake on TV. Should be something more depraved than "married with children". Tough standard to meet, I know, but I've got confidence that our troops will not let us down. Maybe something with a large arena, and maybe with some crazed wild beasts, and of course the obligatory heathen 'hajis'.

Gyre

17. No good can come indeed
This poem has haunted me for many years, and increasingly these days. You go by "gyre". Are you familiar with this?:

The Second Coming -- W. B. Yeats

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all convictions, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.

5. Won't work
In San Salvador people thought there was a possibility of some sort of reform. In Iraq there is a war allready going on. The "death squads" will have to face armed opponents who are allready committed to fighting to the death.

A whole different kettle of fish.

7. this is my favorite part:
--snip--
"One proposal would send U.S. Special Forces teams to advise, support and possibly train Iraqi squads of hand-picked Kurdish Peshmerga fighters and Shiite militiamen to target Sunni insurgents and their sympathizers, Newsweek said, citing military insiders familiar with the discussions."
--snip--

Sending in the Kurds and Shiites to kill Sunnis.
fucking priceless

11. In this country we're called liberals.
"The Sunni population is paying no price for the support it is giving to the terrorists," he said. "From their point of view, it is cost-free. We have to change that equation."

Open season on dissidents?

9. This is stupid (to say the least). The Iraqis are already armed and
fighting us, this isn't like killing unarmed peasants who resent US influence in their government. The Kurds, if they go along with this will only gain the hatred and mistrust of all the other Middle Eastern countries. And I wonder to what degree Iraiq Shi'ites will be crazy enough to really go for this plan. It will only make the civil war crazier than it is now. And as for the US, for bush** & Co. to have the unbelievable gall to think that the rest of the area will tolerate Negroponte death squads operating freely in Iraq is, I think, absolute lunacy.

But we all knew it was just a matter of time before the new Himmler covered himself in Iraqi blood, just like he did Salvadoran. It's so hard to try to understand how some people can be this absolutely evil. I wonder, does this man have a family. Are they proud of him and his evil deeds, the death and destruction, the killings without proof, the innocent civilian deaths that follow this man who can't really even be referred to as a human being?

Just the thought that the bush** cabal are openly talking about this (instead of lying about it like before) should have every democrat in the senate and congress in front of the people stating that they won't passively allow this war crime. If they don't, they're just as guilty.

Every paragraph in that article is progressively worse then the one before it!

<snip>

--Shahwani also said that the U.S. occupation has failed to crack the problem of broad support for the insurgency. The insurgents, he said, "are mostly in the Sunni areas where the population there, almost 200,000, is sympathetic to them." He said most Iraqi people do not actively support the insurgents or provide them with material or logistical help, but at the same time they won’t turn them in. One military source involved in the Pentagon debate agrees that this is the crux of the problem, and he suggests that new offensive operations are needed that would create a fear of aiding the insurgency. "The Sunni population is paying no price for the support it is giving to the terrorists," he said. "From their point of view, it is cost-free. We have to change that equation."--

<snip>

Interpretation? Let's start killing MORE civilians. Not to mention that using various ethnic groups pitted against one another is almost beyond belief.

Anyone familiar with what happened in S America in the 80's had better read up.

What would make us any different then the 'terrorists' if we start using death squads to punish the local population into going along?

What a stunning article!

16. I've got an idea, let's bring back Saddam
He knows the country, he has the experience and he's really good at killing people.

The Sunni insurgents (we'll at least most of them) would suddenly be on the side of law and order. They could knock off the Islamic extremists Sunnis in a heartbeat.

Of course this would screw the Kurds and the Shiites who've sort of been our side, but hey, we've done it before we can do it again. What's a few mass graves compared to making the world safe for investment capital and oil companies to flourish.

Besides we have to wrap things up fast in Iraq so we can move on to our next mission to bring freedom and Democracy to the people of Iran.

21. Just a coincidence Negraponte is such an expert at this stuff

Just digging the hole deeper and deeper.

I wonder how long it's going to take before people start asking if those beheadings were really done by Arab terrorist. You know the ones where, when it's a white guy, there's very little blood, no sign of struggle when the sawing begins. The same ones where, when it's an Arab, suddenly there's tons of blood and a great deal of struggle.

23. I just KNEW your "headline" could NOT BE A "TRUTH" VIA OUR MEDIA.
Better change it before you get shut down *LOL*.

Good story, though,...and you DID offer a more TRUTHFUL headline.

But, *sigh*, we live in a world consumed by bullshit, brainwashed by capitalists, skin-deep and mindlessly lived,...

24. The Ambassador of Death Squads Rides Again!
(cue Lone Ranger music)

Those poor bastards in Iraq. Random Death can come from nearly as any directions s during Saddam.

No sympathy for the insurgents, but many, many innocents will be harmed.

Oh and there ceratinly wouldn't be any negative side effects for their laughably hollow lie of "spreading freedom" ? Gangs of armed thugs with their little fiefdoms a good thing to help ensure liberty for Imperial Freedomstan, eh?
