Instead, we're all too cozy, in our own Private Idahos, hoping we don't lose our jobs, or that * causes WW III, or whatever. (And I'm hardly the first DUer to say that we're all comfy with our status quo right now.)
Forgive me my arrogance, but the clock is ticking for us all. I shouldn't be harsh because I too used to feel that death or disaster would be a long, long time coming, or would never happen, or whatever. Fortunately, my situation at work AND my current health situation bashed reality into my idealistic head. Our time is limited, finite. I suppose I should be grateful. I actually am.
In one form or another, all our time is limited. Period. One could die tomorrow in a car wreck. Another could die or be irrevocably changed during a critical operation. Someone else, age 28 now, might just make it to 108. Somebody else might be wrongly diagnosed or diagnosis neglected. Another could be murdered. Mutilated. Assassinated. Choked on the new raspberry flavored ice cream with sprinkles. Who knows?
We've all got to LIVE life while we've got it. Take a nominal amount of time to grieve as necessary during times of unrest. Then go on with life by picking ourselves up from the bootstraps because unlike those who had died, our time will come. And we, unlike they, are still around to make a difference and do some good.
We need to make a difference. Otherwise we're just as dead.
Personally, Heaven is a load of steaming cattle cack. It's a farce and fairy tale. It was concocted to keep people in line during a paltry and painful life. You know: "Suffer now, get rewarded when your body dies. For your spirit is forever, whoo-aah-oooh." BOGUS. That's why we have creatures like * in power and idiot religious fanatics who think they'll get better if they sacrifice their corporeal existence! They believe that hocus pocus and in turn makes them think that it's okay to hurt, maim, and kill because all will be forgiven in the end. That's a shovelload!
Of course, if Heaven exists then I'll never make it there. And I don't need faith-based mindgames, I'd prefer to look into reality rather than having a forced fantasy shoved down my throat.
What we are living now, for all we know or need be concerned with, is ALL WE'VE GOT. I am tired of corporate america's love of money and control. I hope they start realizing they're mortal too and that, in the end, Heaven or otherwise (because technically they'd be frying in Hell for their grotesque sins), and lie back a bit and let the working class have a breather as well. Human producivity can only go so far...
(BTW: I don't want to sound insensitive. I did pass my respects yesterday, more than once.)
