McCain says France and Germany want "Revenge" and "the Money!" heh heh!
Edited on Sun Sep-07-03 04:29 PM by KoKo01
Now, I'm not known for these "hit and run" posts. But, this one I'm not going to give the source, but I heard him say it.

We Dems must change this hateful dialog. Think about it: Repug spin by McCain:

France and Germany want "Revenge on America" and to be included in all that "Money to be made in Iraq." --John McCain...

This is considered OKAY for a prominent Repug (and one who ran against Bush and who has been respected here on DU.......by an ever "dwindling" group....but still by some.....

Believe me! McCain said this! Whadda Ya Think? Kind of rhetoric which will fire up the Repug base? Get us to have the UN pitch in and help Bush?

1. very cheap shot
If McCain said this, my opinion of him has dropped big time.

Why should Germany and France want to help the U.S. What's the incentive?

2. McCain has been offending me...
for quite some time since my mother is French. His attacks are so nasty and bigoted against "Old Europe".

I used to respect him. It turns out he's just a nasty old scumbag.

And no shit there's money to be made in Iraq. The difference is that France and Germany aren't killing people to make that money.

6. Well they may want revenge
Edited on Sun Sep-07-03 04:50 PM by Classical_Liberal
but that begs the question, what for?

Just read atrocious threats from Perle, and Rumsfeld. that's what for. I am not getting any money from this deal and neither are most Americans. Most Americans are paying through the nose so Bush cronies who got us into this mess, with no help from the French and the Germans, can make money.

11. What's sad to me about McCain is that I thought he was a Real Traditional
Repug.......and I could have respected him for that. I could have said: "This person is a Repug in the Old Rockefeeler Fiscal Conservative Tradition of the Repug. Party........so I would try to work with him.

Time and Time Agains.....McCain has disillusioned me! He wasn't what we thought.......we need to look for other Senators/House Members for what the "Old Repug Party" was about.....

McCain seems to be "Gung Ho Bush" when he isn't doing "sneak attacks" on him........

He's a FAKE.......what he said was the final blow to me that McCain would ever be an "Anti-Bush Force!"

12. "to be included in all that "Money to be made in Iraq. "
Sounds like a confession to me. Not " want part of the glory of liberating the Iraqi people", but "to be included in all that "Money to be made in Iraq. ".

As we're saying: one always uses his own motives to rationalize the behavior of others.

15. Hey, don't be sorry
Edited on Sun Sep-07-03 06:45 PM by Kellanved
:hi:
It is a political smear campaign. Nobody but McCain and his party should be sorry, especially in the current mess.

It's interesting and alarming to see such a thing happening between "western" nations. This is like a bad government/opposition summer-thater; doesn't happen often in "grown up" diplomacy. (however it's usually the opposition resorting to smear)

And: thanks

Edit: and there is some truth to it: Siemens and other German companies would love to rebuild the Iraqi infrastructure (and the US Grid while they're at it). They're traditionally conservative (giving most donations in Germany to the conservatives and, in the US, to the GOP) - the main reason for the schizophrenic party-line of the christian-democrats (the pope is right, but so is the war).

18. well lets see now
Germany, France, Russia and others begged us not to invade Iraq. Now that we villified them for their intelligence and invaded anyway, now that we are bogged down without a clue as to what to do to extricate us from this mess of our own creation, now we go to the UN hat in hand. Now we ask THEM to place their own troops in harms way because of our govts stupidity.

McCain can commit an anatomically impossible act on himself as far as Im concerned.........
