This board is more powerful than you seem to understand. Idea's and people who pay attention and discuss news and government dealings are dangerous these days.

I am sure there are more paid DNC DLC party hacks here than neo cons but the neo cons pay attention to what we discuss that is for sure.
By the way how did you get that name? I registered it here a year or two ago and stopped using it. lol.

But DU is not that important. We should have a realistic idea of who and what we are - we're no threat to the White House.

11. Sure. We're not impactful, at all,...that's the answer!!!!
We're no threat whatsoever to pathological liars.

We're worthless, nothing,...just a buncha' "P.J.s" online.

No smarts. No worldliness. No human worth in the spectrum of neoCONimperialists.

We're definitely not worth any kind of defense by a determined propaganda machine.

NO WAY.

Not DU.

Not like this. Not with as active a community, at least a progressive community.

"We all want to pretend we're Bernstein and Woodward"
At this point we are much better than both those douche bags who carry water for the BFEE.

It's funny you admire Wat who almost took out the king in the blink of an eye against huge odds yet you really underestimate the power of a huge group of political savvy and active people in helping develop and spread ideas and information.

16. Since I have been here I have seen DU break a lot of stories
And raise awareness about a lot of things that have made the neo cons PNACers look bad. Hell the "discovery" of PNAC happened here as did the development of the pet goat story.

Don't undersell what DU is doing. Maybe you have not seen it but trust me this community is huge and very valuable in terms of finding and "spinning" and spreading news and information.

41. That was ugly and not as 'wacky' as Fox played it. Maybe I didn't see it.
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 10:09 PM by JohnOneillsMemory
This website is part of the info-wars going on out in the 'real' world of propaganda and efforts to disclose hidden crimes.

There are certainly disruptors, spys, disinformation, distraction, confusion sowed intentionally, intentionally discrediting posts, etc.

(Maybe I didn't even see the thread that caused all the hoopla and
I sure don't want to stir up that old tsunami ruckus BUT-)
From what I remember before the thread(s?) got scrubbed, there were du-ers posting info about oil drilling trade journals that have aknowledged that man-made activities like pumping water into a region to displace oil have caused tectonic activity in other areas as a surprising result.

That is not kooky even if Fox News wants to inflate it into a propaganda smear.
However, saying W caused a Richter 9 earthquake would be kooky.

Is this what was posted? Maybe in juxtaposition with the outrage over the US military being notified at Diego Garcia Naval Base but not the countries who were devastated SEEMED like an accusation of causation leveled against the neo-cons and that would be way out of line with reason and being scoffed at wouldn't do DU or the world any good.

Anyway...I could be talkin' out my butt here...Maybe there was much more wild claims that I didn't see and the above is moot.

One of the best things about DU is the way people can empty their intellectual pockets out for everyone to see and pick through to see if there is anything valuable to enlighten us, kind of an open research project. Being smeared and discredited by Fox is a drag and can prevent DU from being effective in applying collective intelligence to the general public by chilling the environment.

While a reminder to not leave DU open to ridicule is probably a good thing as it becomes more of a prominent competition for the mainstream media, I'm concerned that if DU runs away from the words 'conspiracy theory' without fighting back with good information/explanations the way Dems ran away from the word 'liberal', we are most definitely fucked.

And then Tom Delay's smear about the "X-Files Wing of the Democratic Party" will work against our efforts to unmask these criminals in our White House. And the terrorists will have won.

Nixon's regime was a buncha' sweethearts compared to this regime (which is precisely WHY the neoCONimperialists are MORE SECRETIVE AND TIGHTLY WOVEN AROUND "LOYALTY" OVER PRINCIPLES than the Nixon regime ever imagined).

If these "rulers" prove a pattern of deception, in breach of their sworn oaths to uphold the Constitution and protect our people (rather than take advantage of public lives and treasure),...they are guilty of treason,...and subject to serious criminal proceedings which their political positions will not shield!!!

They work boards like this as part of their tithe to RevMoon.

For operatives, I am sure they get paid handsomely.

For nutcases like the freepers, they get the joy of knowing they are helping to deliver this nation to the fascists who they adore. They WANT a Bush royal family, so they won't have to THINK about how hard it is to preserve a democracy.

38. Paid posters? Those who are the most irritating...are the ones who
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 09:54 PM by higher class
descend within minutes...like vultures...when certain things happen. (I first noticed it with the crash of the Wellstone aircraft.)

Maybe they are not freepers. May they are operatives. Maybe there isn't a difference.

They dis-inform.
They deny.
They deflect.
They ridicule.
They personally insult or character assassinate.
They naysay postings in a manner similar to O'Reilly or Barnes.
They try to terminate analysis and speculation, in particular.
If countered, they sometimes offer so-called radical explanations with an air of superiority. They don't often supply links and when they do, the links are mainstream or have government or corporate origins.
They work in teams - they support each other. They reappear with different names and sometimes with high post numbers. They acknowledge each other with jokes or a pretense of authority.

Just my observation.

Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 10:08 PM by diamond14

that comes up....for example: the word CUBA...and always, you'll get this TEAM...interchanging with each other...'oh, what a great idea', 'yes, I totally agree', 'only idiots would think otherwise'...and then the usual: 'don't ban me, BUT...', 'I support Kerry, BUT..." "I'm not a bush* supporter, BUT..."

same thing happens if you question the Iraq war, or bush*.....

a TEAM comes forward...they interchange and degrade REAL DUers...they slam the rational people, until most either leave it alone or accept the viewpoints of the bush* paid posters...

IMO, the presence of bush* paid posters has really degraded the dialong here on DU....I couldn't even look at DU for a whole month before the re-selection of the boy-king....

and now, without Khephra, there's a whole new level of JERKS here...

43. It takes dedication to make a point
I rather think it would be a wise policy for the democratic party to
offer "bonus" pay to people who they feel write well and seem to already
endorse their concerns. The problem as a writer, is ghost writing
a POV that is not sincere... it comes across inevitably... not in
the single line responses, but in the more thoughtful replies.

How do you make republican speak a natural impulse to write thousands
of lines of work and then make a republican point, to plant an idea
to the unsuspecting. To work your way in politically means not
presenting the republican point, and ye'd be fired for that... as
shallow as they are. I've been deemed a freeper for endorsing tax
reform and a progressive sales tax, but this is not republican views
that i'm expressing, merely mine own.

Gosh, wouldn't it be nice to be paid to spend the long hours it takes
to write DU properly.
