How did the jerks at Free Republic handle their betrayal of Kid Rock?
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 11:51 PM by NNguyenMD
I'm no fan of the guy by the way, and its not b/c of the vulgarity and misogyny, his music just plain sucks, and quite frankly I'm not impressed with him as an entertainer. Give me Linkin Park or Offspring any day of the week and twice on sunday over that prick.

But I have to admit that I feel a little bad for him. He's a vocal Shrub supporter who's bascially going to find out that not even all of the fame, money, and time he invested into campainging for Shrub can over power the whining uptight parents of suburbia who make up the Christian Right. I wonder whats going on in his head right now finally knowing whats it like to be "pimped" like a bitch by the Bush Administration.

10. Well its interesting to see if the freeps realize the dilemma they are in
b/c on one end, the Republicans have been wanting to attract more pop entertainment stars to come out and support them, but on the other end the Christian right is convinced that they have exclusive control over who represents "their" party. It will be funny to see the meltdown that they are going to have when they realize that their bitchiness will isolate them further away from a party that wants to solidify its powerbase more broadly.

This past election we saw that the Dems had a clear advantage in the celebrity and rock star endorsement area. I'm just curious to know if the Freepers realize that they've just allowed the whining bitchy Christian Right push away the kind of Pop culture acceptance, albeit in the form of Kid Rock, the Republican party so desperately wants, but has had so much trouble attracting. Its not everyday a pop star endorses a conservative, and it'll be fun to witness this conflicting dynamic grow bigger and bigger between these two differing wings of the Republican party.

17. Or some other talentless right wing Country "singer".
:nopity:

Kid Rock = Right Wing Toilet Paper

That's what they did with him. They used him to get their shit out and then they dumped him in the toilet!

by at least one music snob. It's some Internet Law or something. ;)

9. The best definition I ever saw for Linkin Park was this:
Linkin Park is a boy band with guitars.

It's not accurate (as to their origins), but it is certainly accurate given who their primary audience is.

That being said... the Beatles started off pretty much as a boy band (except for the origins of course... the Quarrymen were a self-formed group). Maybe Linkin Park can get someone to fucking hit them over the head so they can produce good music.

16. Doesn't Hybrid Theory = Linkin Park?
if it's anything like Meteora, I won't even give it a chance.

Otherwise... maybe. And I don't use Kazaa, so I'll have to check it out on rhapsody

19. Hybrid Theory was Linkin Park's breakthrough albulm, I've never listen to
Meteora, and it might very well be that Linkin Park is a one albulm band. But Hybrid Theory has plenty of tracks that won't leave you dissapointed with the albulm over all. Enjoy!

14. thats my point, they do or at least they think that they do and its going
to be hilarious once the Republican big daddy's decide to have a sit down with them to tell them who's suppose to call the shots. I think we all agree that the Christian right are convinced that they single handidly gave Bush his second term, and they will get in the face of anyone, Republican or no, who gets in the way of their agenda.

All I'm saying is that this could be the first sign of a party tearing at its seams, with too many divisions frothing at the mouth for a piece of the absolute power that they hold in Washington today. I mean think about it, this will probably be one of the few times in a generation when the Republicans will have exclusive ownership of ALL branches of government, and I'll bet that there's a whole slew of interest groups who'll eat each other alive for the chance to wield it.

I think behind the curtains, the Republican leadership have quite a bit to worry about in terms of maintaining party cohesion. This family values, Jesus freak facade can't last forever, and when it comes down there will be hell to pay. And we get to enjoy watching all of it unravel from the sidelines!
