No-Fly list...........

I'm not sure which forum to post this in but.........

Today my s/o was flying home from Vegas to Tucson, when Southwest Airlines informed him that his name was on the No-Fly list.

His is a VERY common name (John Smith, William Jones, Robert Johnson, or a variation of any of those)(didn't want to give away his true identity).

Anyway, he was told his name is the No-Fly list!!! WTF???????????????

He travels evey week for work to the jobsite, which he can't get to now becuz of flooding this past week that washed out bridges, and now he can't even fly there next week to continue his job!!!

When does a common name become fodder for TSA to put you on their 'LIST'?

I know that you can never find the why's and wherfore's of why any name is on this list, but what can be done to get off of it??????

BTW, he is a Vietnam Vet, very much WASPish looking (gray hair and all....LOL)

Another question??? Should I post this in a diffent forum, or is this the proper one?

1. We're probably all on the No Fly list now.

I guarantee you that they'll add every Democratic Party donor to the list too.

6. He wasn't a 'donor' but voted Dem on the early ballot........

whiich in AZ you have to sign your name in order to vote early.

But how do you get your 'common' name off the list???????????????

and too many transfers to take the train to where he goes.

This is a short trip (Tucson to Vegas) where he then rents a car to get to the jobsite.

3. My brother-in-law was on, too.

He's a retired CA assemblyman and state senator from Orange County.

A considerable player in California GOP circles.

Shares a name with a prominent Democratic congressman.

I think he has since gotten it taken care of, but he has had some travel hassles.

(BTW - he's a very good guy)

I am, but he is the one on the No-Fly list (altho he has always been a Democrat like myself). Tonight he was questioning that since he would be out of town on election day and had to vote 'early', could that be a cause of his being on the 'list'? Since when you vote early, you have to sign your name to the ballot in AZ?????

9. Ted Kennedy was on the list too

And it took him months to get off. One time he called Tom Ridge directly, was told it was taken care of, but it wasn't.

The only way he could get on the plane was a supervisor recognized him and let him board anyway.

I also know a Congressman who was on it for a while. He too has a very common name.

10. I know that Teddy was on the 'list'..........

in fact we had a few laughs about that tonight, but still our problem remains. Hopefully it won't take a couple of months to resolve. We are hard working folks and he needs to travel where the job is and if he can't get there it's a huge income loss for us.

15. I've heard that it's damn near impossible to get off the list once

you're on it. Another "victim" was David Nelson, of Ozzie & Harriet fame. Obviously, he has a super common name and apparently all David Nelsons were being flagged! I don't know if you contact the NTSB or Homeland Security. My guess is Homeland Security.
