My LTTE
Edited on Sun Sep-07-03 10:09 PM by ewagner
I just couldn't stand it anymore....

Editor:

Once again, our President has addressed the Nation and, once more, he has deliberately sought to mislead us.

As he has done before, he equated 9/11 and terrorism to Iraq in order to gain support for his misadventures.

The truth is this:

Iraq was NOT involved in the attacks of September 11, 2001. His own administration has admitted it and the Congressional report stated emphatically that Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks.

WMDs have yet to be found in Iraq. There was no threat of a "mushroom shaped cloud" from Iraq, and, most certainly, no evidence that Iraq could launch a chemical or biological weapons attack within "45 minutes". Iraq was never an immenient threat to the security of the United States.

Iraq, prior to the invasion and subsequent occupation had nothing to do with the "war on terror". How it has suddenly become the focus of the "war on terror" now is a mystery. While there may be elements of Al Queda operating in Iraq now, there certainly weren't before the war and they are only there now because of the inept planning for post-war Iraq for which this administration will not take responsibility.

We will now blindly hand over $87 Billion dollars to this administration to fix what they have broken. In truth, the $87 Billion may pale in contrast to the lives of our armed forces personnel who have, and will continue, to die in this fruitless misadventure.

Don't know if it will get published. It's a pretty conservative rag, but, whatthell....

1. At least you're
trying to make yourself heard. I commend you for that.

I hope these idiots are unemployed soon.

2. Your argument is perfectly rational and I don't doubt its truth

The problem is it has been used ineffectively for months.

Unfortunately it asks for reason, the majority of people that still support the war do it for questionably rational reasons. In their minds the US got hit on 911 because we looked like a soft target. Just like life on the playground if you look weak you get picked on.

These folks see the war as looking tough.

But, playground experience also suggests that people rejoice when bullies and the greedy get their comeuppence. Everyone enjoys saying "I told ya so!" Conseqently I'm trying to create a LTTE with playground logic that talks about the arrogant bully getting in over his head and then crying for help. I believe that approach can reach the proliteriat, I'll share it with you when its done.

4. Interesting approach
I'll be anxious to see what you come up with. Quite creative!

I thought of an allagory but the letters in this paper are usually written on about a 6th grade level so I decided to shoot for simple sentences and logic that didn't need lengthy explanations. Who knows. Thank god I'm self-employed or I couldn't have written taht letter.

3. Nice! - mine
"I will soon submit to Congress a request for 87 billion dollars. The request will cover ongoing military and intelligence operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere, which we expect will cost 66 billion dollars over the next year. " GW Bush - 09-07-2003

This is what happens when you let the USSC select the President of The US - you end up with some loser who doesn’t even know what Nation he is supposed to be representing!

Not ONE WORD about the US economy? According to the Rocky Mountain News on September 6, 2003, "The U.S. economy unexpectedly lost 93,000 jobs in August, the most since March, and the unemployment rate fell to 6.1 percent as more discouraged workers dropped out of the labor force, government figures showed.

Payrolls fell after a revised 49,000 drop in July, the Labor Department said in Washington. The jobless rate fell from 6.2 percent in July and 6.4 percent in June, the highest since 1994."

I think George needs to:

1. Account for the difference between $87 Bn and $66 Bn.

2. Start paying attention to the US economy.

I think Republicans as a whole need to

1. Accept that they got suckered into voting for an absolutely incompetent indivdual

2. Make certain that they find someone to put up for the 2004 election who isn’t a Bush

10. Great Job!
I believe I know the particular rag you're talking about and I will look for it to get published. You were right to keep it simple. You don't want to sound too educated around here. But it is short and sweet. Should see the light of day.
