Bush, in the tsunami relief effort partly for the international awareness to position him for the U.N. job. Clinton, who has been relatively low-profile since leaving the White House, is said to be ready for a new challenge now that he's finished with his autobiography. Assuming that Clinton's popularity in Africa and Europe would win the approval of the Security Council, the only fly in the ointment is the complications for wife Hillary's presidential hopes in 2008. "No one in the U.N. would want the President of the United States to be married to the head of the U.N., and therefore in control of Security Council votes," said one observer. Conversely, Americans wouldn't like the idea that the U.N. would be calling the shots in the Oval Office.

1. SNL's parody of "Hardball" sucks

Tweety is portrayed as the good guy, his guests are the targets, but he isn't.

Same with the way they do Rummy. He's the good guy, and the reporters asking him the dumb questions are the targets of the satire. We're supposed to identify with his impatience with them.

2. You Are SPOT-on

The first couple of times HAMMOND "did" Tweety, Tweety himself was the target. But this soon evolved into Tweety-as-voice-of-reason surrounded by wacky guests around him. HAMMOND is a proto-wingnut or a pregnant wingnut or something like that.

4. If you're watching SNL...

for cutting-edge satire or parody, no wonder you're disappointed.

They don't have much of a political agenda. Everything on that show is as vanilla and unfunny as can be.

They have a hard enough time trying to make jokes at the expense of Paris Hilton. What makes you think that they should fare any better at making fun of Rumsfeld, Bush, etc??
