1. Nice to finally see a picture, hard to revisit.

I find this interesting:

"Inaugural Protests
In the largest inaugural protest since President Nixon's second inauguration in 1973, thousands of protesters packed into Washington and lined several blocks of the Bush inaugural parade route. The protests were loud, but mostly peaceful; police made few arrests."


The largest protest since 1973? My paper was silent on the issue -- silent. No articles, no pictures. It was not until Fahrenheit 9/11 that I even KNEW of ANY protests, let alone eggs pelting the limo.

2. Isn't it amazing?

Granted, I didn't watch too much coverage of the inauguration, but I knew absolutely nothing of any protests until years later, when I read about it here at DU.

These photos are awesome. I especially love the one of the topless woman climbing over the barricade. Although one could get seriously injured confronting police with so little protection.

3. This is so sad to hear.

I was there and there was a crowd 8-people deep marching continuously around the Supreme Court Bldg. There were Army sharp shooters on the roofs of all federal buildings. Police in riot gear, some on horses. If it was that bad then, it'll be nuts this time. I'll be sure to post my photos of this upcoming one here.

and, guess what?

They're showing these fucking photos four years late.

Not one of them ever appeared in the paper on January 21, 2001. Or afterwards.

Nothing about the protests aired on any of the local TV news programs, either.

First time I heard of them was when we saw "Fahrenheit 9/11," and we all came out of the theater, shaking our heads, asking each other - strangers - "Did you know about any of that?"

No one knew.

So, fuck the Washington Post for having the temerity to publish those photographs now. Slinking scum, that's the Post.

MORE EGGS to be imported into OUR Nation's Capital in the next few days....

However, local groups have all kinds of plans...my ear-to-the-ground tells me that it'll be EGGS, TOMATOES, and the always-present-during-parades HORSE MANURE !!!
