2. Amtrak just added a bunch more cars...so you can still catch a ride

it's a popular way to travel, and meet your fellow-protestors....

3. Financing is really low

and I've been unemployed for a while now. I wonder when me and the cat will be camping in the car.
I hope many show up on Thrusday also in Santa Fe.

4. I'm on a thread bare shoestring budget and a prayer m'self....

....got a temp job for now and thankfull for that...but unless there's another one past next week there just isnt'enough for rent...the ol' rapid tax refund will have to suffice to keep the roof over m'head for another month...sigh...hope everyone has a safe and memorable trip...I'll be there in spirit regardless. :hi:

5. Unfortunately

Amtrak is not going out of Denver to the west nor into Denver to the east until no earlier than the 21st. I know this personally because I have a niece and nephew stranded here with me, in Illinois. They are on their way to Davis, CA via Amtrak. Their train (out of Denver) has been cancelled until at least Friday due to heavy snows, avalanches, and rock slides in the Colorado Rockies.

What a wonderful idea, though. The Peace Train!

Edited to ask if you have new information from Amtrak? The website still states the California Zephyr is cancelled into/out of Denver until at least the 21st.

and we KNOW what you're doing....spreading FALSE and discouraging information is typical...we don't appreciate it....

PEACE TRAIN to DC EXPANDED


In light of severe weather and popularity of the PEACE TRAIN to DC, there has been a modification to include more people from all over the nation!

This morning I called and enlisted the help of Amtrak agent Charlene and I have plenty of good news. First off, regarding the mud slides west of Denver, it is entirely possible the California Zephyr will still leave on Sunday, January 16th with us on board. Second, in the event the Zephyr cannot go, the Southwest Chief leaves Los Angeles at 6:45 PM on the 16th to connect in Chicago with the Capitol Limited as planned.

Therefore, the PEACE TRAIN to DC is now officially modified to include ANY AMTRAK connection to the Capitol Limited from Chicago to Washington DC scheduled to depart Chicago at 5:35 PM on Tuesday, January 18th, 2005
