"WASHINGTON -- President Bush says there is no need to hold anyone in his administration accountable for what has happened in Iraq because the voters have already spoken.

"We had an accountability moment, and that's called the 2004 elections," Bush said in an interview with The Washington Post for Sunday's editions. "The American people listened to different assessments made about what was taking place in Iraq, and they looked at the two candidates, and chose me."

Many good people get screwed and lose their jobs for no good reason or get screwed in other ways when they work hard. Bush has fucked up repeatedly throughout the course of his life and he not only does not get held accountable for his mistakes, but he gets exhalted either because or in spite of them.

My GOP friends say (realize I am talking about Midwestern corporate management types transplanted to Silicon Valley California - but their hearts are still in the Red States and Battleground States of the Midwest)---

1. This was a vote in support of the initial, original Afghanistan - Taliban - Al Qaida policy.

2. This was also a vote in support of the visible effects of the Department of Homeland Security (typical quote "They haven't hit us in the US since 9/11." )

3. Among my GOP friends -- they are divided about Iraq - but a significant fraction say "Viet Nam Quagmire - De Ja Vue All Over Again"

4. Among my GOP friends - they say that "Gay Marriage" is a diversionary side issue (but realize, my GOP friends have lived in California for an average of 15 years).

5. Among my GOP friends - most felt that the Swifties were lying --- Kerry should have hit them hard

After a few beers and war stories -- the Viet Nam veterans among my really good GOP friends felt that if Kerry believed that the Swifties were 100% bald faced liars -- Kerry should have unleashed his Jim Carville dogs on the two Swiftie leaders responsible for the Pt. Welcome friendly fire deaths - and the cover up.
