...my general musical "anthem" for the entire neo-con/Bush administration is from Prokofiev's "Alexander Nevsky" cantatta, the "Invaders in Pskov" song. The cruel, self-righteous arrogance of the 13th century Teutonic invaders as portrayed by the grim, Latin chant in this song precisely matches this whole gang of right-wing fanatics we are currently stuck with:

"Peregrinus excpectavi pedes meos in cymbalis est" (As a foreigner, I expect my feet to be (met with sound of) cymbals) - "Invaders in Pskov" from "Alexander Nevsky" by Prokofiev.

Carmina Burana was an older text. Orff was not the first to put it to music. I think it was early baroque.
