Looking at Baby Jessica when she was taken away from

her adoptive parents. Has anyone done any follow-up studies on what happens to these children after they are removed from adoptive parents and returned to biological parents?

This was a donor mother baby--the birth mother carried the baby of a couple unable to conceive--then decided she wanted to keep the child...and did. I don't know the follow up. I think the children probably suffer less in the long run than do the parents in these situations (if the birth parents are decent--otherwise, the kids wind up battered or worse).

Anti-abortionists tout adoption as an alternative, but I would never adopt a baby in this country because adoptive parents have no rights when push comes to shove. It doesn't seem to matter if the birth parents are Billy-Bob Wifebeater and Bessie Sue Braindead--blood is thicker than a proven good and loving home with adoptive parents.
