7. Cult of personality

Boxer was great today nd far more articulate and to the point than Kerry in particular. She was also wonderful on Jan. 6. I very much appreciate her service, and I helped organize a flower fund to thank her. I do not understand, however, this cult of personality surrounding politicians (Dean, Kucinich, Clark, and now Boxer) that many DU members seem to engage in. Now I'm not directing this toward you in particular, but there seems to be dramatic swings between adoration of Democrats and then subsequently hating them when they disappoint (Kerry is a key example). Let's remember who they are, politicians. Some are better than others, and Boxer has been great.

Obviously my reaction to Boxer's performance today was tongue in cheek (and no, I took no offense at all to, and am not at all on defense about, what you said).

We do tend to deify politicians only to tear them down. I actually see that as not a good thing. It takes logic and reason out of the equation, replacing them with blind fan worship.

That being said, I think our side is far less guilty of this than the other side. It seems there's often little difference between political discourse and rooting for the Superbowl teams.

But right now, I **still** want her baby! :D
