BARBARA BOXER IN 2008!

I cannot express how proud I am of Senator Barbara Boxer for taking the initiative to stand up to Condi Rice and for standing up against the confirmation of the counts in Ohio. Where on earth are the other Democratic Senators??? Somebody in the Senate had to make a stand and fight these crooks and Boxer is doing just that.

I want her to run for President in 2008. Forget Hillary!

I really don't think a woman can win. Especially a Senator. We need someone more to the middle. I think we should get Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico to run. He is our only viable candidate.

4. I disagree

Other countries, including Pakistan and India have had women as heads of state. Would it not be possible for us to progress that far? We must refuse to succumb to bigotry. If not, we let it rule our country. Boxer might not be a viable option, but not because she is a women. Too many Americans believe Fox news that Boxer represents the fringe left. Regardless, I'd definitely work for a Boxer presidential candidacy in 2008. Second guessing who would be more electable didn't exactly work in 2004, did it?

7. A woman candidate and the south...

I'm in Florida, and I can tell you that the average Florida cracker is not going to vote for a woman candidate UNLESS...she comes out pro-gun, pro-hunting, and pro-nascar. Barbara Boxer is none of these. She has purposely gone out of her way to alienate these people. Personally I think it's funny and she is doing her job well.


Bill Richardson on the other hand has played both sides well...like Bill Clinton.

A presidential candidate needs to show leadership first and having a Democrat Governor is one hell of a start.

BTW, I just read the rules and I can't start a new discussion yet.

There is no indication she is even thinking about running for president. On that committee, she has behaved like she is doing her job as a senator, not playing to the camera as one presidential candidate has done. She has certainly not purposefully alienated anyone. She is representing her constituency, which is not Florida. I also live in Florida, but definitely don't consider myself a Floridian, politically or otherwise, so I know I'm not representative. You may be right that she wouldn't be a successful nominee, but because of her politics, not her gender. I really think surrendering to that point of view only perpetuates patriarchal rule.

especially regarding the recount effort in New Mexico. WTF sarcasm off.

I do believe Barbara Boxer is a definite serious consideration for me in 08. She has demonstrated a priority on principle not bullshit "political capital" type considerations.

15. The center is killing the Democrats.

Part of the reason that Kerry lost is because he played the "me too" game. A tactic that is tried and a proven failure. If the Dems have ANY chance in 2006 or 2008 for that matter is stop playing Republican lite. Why doesn't anybody get this?
