Make Bush pay for his war.
OK, it's time for the spineless Democrats in Congress to earn their keep. They wimped through the war resolution and caved in on tax cuts twice. Now, we have nearly a $500 billion budget deficit and are stuck in Iraq, abandoned by some of our closest allies.

It's time for Bush to put up or shut up. If this war on 'terror' is REALLY important, then goddamnit PAY FOR IT. Not later, NOW. Don't say we will make any sacrifice and then sacrifice NOTHING. Pay for the goddamned war.

Force Bush to either makes $87 billion in cuts or to raise taxes by $87 billion, and let's see if Bush is REALLY willing to sacrifice for this CRITICAL war on terror, or if it's all just big talk. Put up or shut up Bush. Pay the piper or bring the troops home.

1. I suggest "oil source protection" surcharge on dividends and gains
from sale of oil related stocks and bonds.

The republicans understand the idea of user fees. So, the folks that are profiting by this war for oil source security ought to pay for it.
As soon as they generate the revenue, the surcharge can be dropped.

For the modern american mercenaries, Don Rumsfeld and Paul Wolfowitz, eextracting this payment should be no problem. They watched the Godfather during their formative years and surely have learned everything they need to know about shakedowns.

3. I like the idea of a tax on oil.
It's our dependence on oil that has caused this war, so it's our dependence on oil that should pay for it.

Let the people who think it's patriotic to drive an SUV put their money where their mouths are.

2. Or at least pay for it in real money - TAXES
Bush should create a temporary 87 Billion Dollar tax to pay for his war. No foisting the cost of the war on future generatation by paying for it with deficits.
