3. Always been disappointed with these NPR talk shows
It seens like verytime you say anything about Bush, you get challanged by the host, esp. when Juan Williams. Dianne, tolerates no slams at all. She got upset when one caller said, I see you a representative from the Moonie Paper there, refering to Tony Blankey. The guy that usually subs for her is no better, I find her show a waste, next hour they talk about some book 90% of the auidence has never read. NPR is a waste.

5. The guy who subs for her is Cokie Roberts's husband. ARRGGHHH!
He's awful.

Dianne has, like, one honest show a month, and the rest is 100% media whoring.

6. I have a totally different impression of Diane Rehm
Any show on NPR has to have both sides, or the Rethugs will cut their funding. The thing about Rehm to remember is she is super polite - keep it polite and you can say what you want. I listen to her almost every day. My personal opinion is that she is a Democrat.

9. Rehm requires a very critical ear. Superficially, she sounds balanced
but, you know, her second hour is like an opiate for women. It's is unbelievably soft, and is devoted entirely to selling a product, and the product, more often than not, sublty confirms very conservative notions of what it means to be a woman.

Her friday news wrap-up is a repitition of the same voices which get airplay all week. It's a joke that people donate money to their local affiliates to hear her have the same voices who you get through commercial sources all week. Her liberals are barely liberal, and she has all those moderate and coservatives who repeatedly qualify as media whores over at mediawhoresonline.com.

Her shows are honest perhaps one time in thirty. The best show she did was her interview with that US diplomat who quit his post in Greece in protest of the Bush administration, and she had a good interview with author of that book about Blair (30 Days??? I can'r remember the title).

I admit that it's easy to get lulled into Rehm's world of DC-insiderness, and apparent balance, but it only takes a little bit of critical thougth to begin to see through it.

She has little patience for callers who are really critical of Bush.

4. I like this woman complaining that people want the gov. to
provide everything for them. Her entire family is career military, and so they get everything provided by the government, of course- but you other people are just socialists.

8. Dianne just spoke up in favor of the UN
Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 10:54 AM by Woodstock
Every call since I've been listening has been anti-Bush.

Current caller: I'm 66 years old and this is the worst president in my lifetime.
