Stop DU-ing CNN Polls. It Enables the * Media Lapdogs. |

I think we would be wise to stop linking to and voting in various web polls with the plea to "Please DU this poll."
Why are we doing that? It simply serves to make their polls look fairer than they are. Most of the time, their questions are so poorly worded as to make a cogent response almost impossible.
I'd rather see DUers avoid supporting these polls entirely. Let their hit count drop in half. Let the polls show a 100% "Yes" response to "Do you think GWB is actually Jeebus?"
The smart thing to do is to ignore them and let their credibility sink under the weight of their idiocy.
Stop enabling the enemy.

On the other hand, registering with Zogby has its benefits.

1)Most times the result favor our side. 2)Good to let media know some people are paying attention.

3. This could allow the other side to |
|
stack the numbers and you in effect surrender the poll to them. I don't think there's anything really wrong with at least highlighting a poll and making people aware of its existence - it just gets more people to participate in it.

4. And stop emailing them to. |
|
They don't care what we think. All they want is evidence that someone is listening to them. Then they show their lists to their sponsors, and get them to pay more for their commercials. If one day all of this stopped, that would get their attention.

5. web polls are total and complete bullshit, and should be ignored |
|
Any poll for which the base of study is entirely self-selecting is invalid as a statistical measurement.
Without even going into the various ways such polls are manipulated by unscrupulous users and user communities *ahem*, it's patently ridiculous to use such polls for anything other than entertainment.
The real tragedy is that the corporate mass media now uses these bullshit wannabe polls as a basis for their news reporting.

6. I agree. The number of "hits" to CNN/AOL TIME WARNER's Site gives |

them $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$'s in a time when their revenue is hurting. I posted a couple weeks ago that all our Networks and Corporate Cables are showing viewership numbers DOWN. My post sunk into archives because there was much else going on.
BUT...answering these polls for years now has proved to me...they don't listen to what we say...no matter how we "UnFreep" these polls. We could have a vote that says 80% of Americans want Bush OUT OF THE WH...and they would keep their Conservative Reporting going 24/7.
They try to attract us Dems/Libs/Progressive/Greens/Naders..et al..going onto their site with their "FAKE POLLS."
It's like a "BAIT AND SWITCH" thingy. They dont' change their coverage but get revenue from the AD CLICKS/HITS to their Online Site.
In three years I've seen the "Mainstream Media's Coverage" go from Middle Right to Right. And that's after answering so many "Unfreep this Poll..DU ALERTS" that I couldn't count them all. I came to the conclusion of the original poster of this thread...that it's a "game" with them for ad revenue.
THEY DON'T CARE WHAT WE THINK...SO..Why should we answer their BOGUS POLLS...But, HEY..:D if it makes you feel good..do it! I just won't give them the pleasure of MY attention anymore.
