Generally you can breach a contract if another force of nature or war creates circumstances beyond your control that make performance impossible or impractical. Look for our invasion to coincide with the moment Halliburton has gotten its end and is due to provide services itself.

Because Halliburton's interest would of course have no impact on when the US would choose to invade Iran.

Has Haliburton already received payment in advance of work to be done? Like, 'we need $500 million up front to get the operation going'. Then, voila! We're at war, the contract was with the old regime, and we don't need to pay it back.
